You know "kiss me liar" and all of its fucking spin-offs? They all suck. All of them are trash and not worth reading. No story needs that many spin-offs, especially if the first one is just trash.

I was curious about these series so I read through Desire me if you can the other day just to start somewhere, plus I see many people say good praises. But oh my god, it's so bad I particularly didn't like the pacing. Main characters aren't particularly likable either. Side characters are all clowns and dumb. Feels like I'm reading about a circus show. Everything seems so shallow (￣∇￣")
Red String Quests could have been way better without all the smut slop. The story is actually interesting, too bad they have sex like every other chapter. It didn't have the smut tag so I thought the story would be more plot focus, but alas. They should add a smut tag lol.
no fr, I had high hopes for desire me if you can cus people said it was the best out of all the series so I read the novel, grayson is literally just constantly groveling for dane and dane barely puts in effort or reciprocates his love. I wanted dane to chase after Grayson bcuz he annoyed tf out of me, he also kept trying to cheat and it was soo annoying. Plus the rape was totally unnecessary and dane as a character felt shallow… Grayson was pretty interesting but I think a character just as evil and possessive as him would fit him better
A lot of ppl who like bratty bottoms don’t actually like them, they just like seeing the bottom say “no” a lot during sex (aka getting raped). Also bl fans don’t even know what a power bottom is anymore. Ppl will ask for power bottom recs but really they just mean a buff bottom. A power bottom is a bottom who is more dominant during sex, that’s it. Their personality outside of sex has nothing to do with whether or not they are a power bottom, it’s purely based on what they enjoy in the bedroom. Mind you, half of the time you ask for power bottom recs ppl just give u buff bottoms who get raped a lot. How can u call them power bottoms if they don’t even get the bare minimum of decency during “sex” aka consent??

i read bls based on if i like the uke or not, both appearance and personality. if they have the ugly ass bowl cut on its most likely that i will not read it. buff bottoms are a 99.9% skip for me. also im not interested if they look like a child or very feminine.
smut and plot can coexist, it's just that most stories are written poorly and with minimal character depth. the presence of explicit sex shouldn't detail the basic mechanics of an interesting story.
smut can (and ideally, should) be a vehicle for characterization and relationship development, and not just in the sense of sex acts getting progressively more extreme, or characters getting to the point of having sex at all.
