I didn’t see them with them spitting on polygamy at all because they did show the last queen having multiple concubines meaning that even right now that is allowed I think they just wanted that shit on him plural also might’ve took a couple of them tiny bit out of contacts, but I also think he is very close to being extremely obsessive with his actions so maybe that’s why some of them seem like that. There is a section in what you said that I genuinely did not understand like I genuinely did not understand so I don’t know exactly what you’re talking about. And the like they didn’t have a conversation of him wanting to be monogamous
I was confused about that because it’s very clear as day that of course this is a monogamous mango in general because unless in the tagging or in the bottom description or even in the cover that this is either a reverse harem a harem it’s immediately categorize as monogamous it’s just is this isn’t in the description at all so yeah that’s the type of relationship that they will have. also this is a full fantasy if this was a more modern day not really with magic I would see that it’s being a potential thing, but not here even if he has the choice that just wouldn’t fly as well as with the demographic that they’re actually looking for and readers

Tarkan is shown to love 2 people. Instead of discarding one and choosing monogamy out of love, the plot resolve the "problem" by removing one of the actor. Firstly by taking one of them out of the picture (who would choose a memory of a potentially dead child over their current lover ?) and secondly by just merging the two into one so Tarkan doesn't have to choose anything.
Yeah, the last queen that was lonely and suicidal had many partners. The only "positive" representation is shown as empty and vapid. It's not rare for story to show a character from a "primitive" civilization with many partners because their civilization accept it while treating it like a mistake or uncivilized behavior. Everyone is like "it's terrible and sad for you but it's part of our culture so you can do it !".
Exactly. Everythign else was spectacular but this particular part of the story just left a bad taste in the mouth and just gen trashy
Yeah so the whole "Tarkan's first love" plotline was totally pointless. I really hate that the resolution of "I love more than one person" be "it's fine they're the same person". It already irked me that they presented loving more than one person as wrong but the author couldn't even fully commit to Tarkan respecting and loving Rine enough to choose a fully monogamous relationship because that's what need to be happy.
Yes he does chose to discard his first love but he didn't actually needed to commit to that decision, he didn't have a discussion with Rine to declare he is choosing her and if a closed relationship is what she want then that's how it'll be. No. Turns out hey're the same person so everything is fine and the conflict resolve itself without the characters needing to make choices.
They also used this auto-resolve to spit on polyamorous relationships one last time because why not since Tarkan isn't "abnormally" loving two different people anymore.
I love this manhwa, seriously, but this side plot was trash and the resolution was unsatisfying and wasn't earned at all. Between the intolerant view on poly relationships and the non-resolution of the conflict it really was disappointing, glad it's over.
