You guys want to seem so morally superior if you hate it so much then why are you still reading? just drop it and move along with your day instead of taking the time to shit on readers who enjoy it… again, when you’re still reading it yourself. I don’t understand why you would put yourself through that??
I read dark romance and most of the people in these comments read yaoi where the character is a black flag. None of us are “puritans”, however we have a line in what we are willing to read. And you say engaging with content as if it’s willingly when most times on my fyp I get at least one edit of reverse thinking even after blocking the account because my feed is yaoi which honestly this shouldn’t even be under that category. And it’s honestly disgusting how everyone in this “fandom” is treating the mc as if he’s the worst person in the world and not the person who is raping and torturing him all day everyday. And it’s disrespectful how the translator is miss translating the mc as if he’s some whiney bitch who just wants cock instead of him being traumatized. I don’t want to read someone’s rape fantasy and I only read maybe ten chapter the rest I looked up what the novel was. He gets raped by a dog…but please continue to tell me how much you enjoy this manhwa.
If you wanna point to examples of trauma responses in the manhwa then look to the moments where Jiwook panics when his neck is touched, his fawn response when Juyeon’s expression shifts. You need to accept that there are moments in this story that are straight up meant to be comedic. Hence all the chibis and shit. If you want a story where the rape and abuse are taken seriously 100% of the time, you’re shit out of luck.
So I did look it up because I got this info about the math thing from my friend and it isn’t in the novel. Which means the artist added it for shits and giggles because they could. Which honestly is disrespectful to the work and two means that they’re just as bad as you. Abuse and rape should never be a joke. Now I do agree finding something that depicts it perfectly with be hard. Things like sheep’s mask, no zero sum, killing stalking, and obey me are all very good depictions. And I would be saying the same thing if people like you called it unserious, like no the manhwa isn’t the problem it’s you. Also just because it has chibis doesn’t mean it’s unserious they just got too lazy to draw it because the novel is definitely more graphic they didn’t write in a note (turn this part to chibi), that was the artists own laziness. And I’m pretty sure a lot of the scenes are removed considering there is a limit to what someone is willing to draw.
Hell yeah I’m the problem. I don’t think I have an obligation to feel pity for Jiwook’s rape considering what an evil douchebag he is. If that’s problematic of me, then I’ll own it. #DarkWoke. And the novel also has “comedic” elements. I.e. Jiwook and Juyeon bantering over eating breakfast, the joke about Juyeon needing a mental hospital. Frankly, Jiwook’s suffering is meant to be on some level indulgent upon a second read because it’s a rape and revenge fantasy story. People’s metrics for good representations of abuse sure have backslid, because wdym NZS and Obey Me are good representations the rape in those stories are just as voyeuristic and whimsical. There’s literally a part in Obey Me where the kidnapper dude brings in a sushi chef for a body sushi kink that contributes nothing to the plot. NZS is straight up dacryphilia and misery porn with plot. Even Killing Stalking, by far one of the most effective psychological BL stories gets overindulgent with sexualizing the rape scenes. To me it just sounds like you read a lot of rapey yaoi and need it to be bleak enough to make you feel like you’re a better person for reading it, sorry. But bleak doesn’t equal good rep.

Every single one of you who like this are disgusting
