Like we haven’t had a Nomamoto thought bubble in a while I feel like. It’s kinda funny cause we see the delusional hallucinations of the people around her, which she’s not privy to. Then we just see her in the background, no idea what’s going on inside her head.
It’s not like she is actually a simple character. We know she has more deep and complex thinking because of the beginning of the story. She can even find puppies cute and doom scroll puppy photos to try and ignore being hungry.
We just see what she’s doing. Or saying. But what is she thinking during some of these moments? Like when she interrupted the gun thing on the ship. She had no idea what was going through his head!
this was actually something I was really upset about!!!! she more or less just turned into a plot device, which at the start didn't feel like the authors intent at ALL!!
it's like, it was a pretty good manga and 100% a fresh take but the fact the main character gets sidelined etc, is so freaking annoying. like she wasn't even the mc in the end. (╬￣皿￣)凸
obvi not the end end, but you get what I mean. I really really hope the author shines a proper light on her again, I think I'm personally just frustrated as it was a long arc and then there's nothing about her (for clarification.)
I think it was on purpose. Like if you think about it in a way, it’s like Nomamoto became an alien to the audience over time. We no longer have any idea what she’s thinking or why she does things. We only see the same surface level that the other characters have been seeing unlike in the beginning, all for this moment where Nomamoto reasserts herself as the main character.
I think the author is commenting on how people wallowing in self misery fail to see anything outside of it. While Nomamoto has been through things, she doesn’t put others through it, she doesn’t wallow in it, she finds a way to enjoy herself.
It’s kind of interesting, but I am excited to see Nomamoto take the spotlight again
You know, ever since the focus shifted more and more off Nomamoto, it’s been easy to portray her in a certain light but I just realized she really didn’t come off as so psychopathic in the beginning. In fact she’s only 17 at the start of the story, cut ties with her cruddy family, working a dead end job where she gets physically assaulted and abused. It’s also apparent aliens are pretty physically strong, and occasionally knock her around in public.
Ever since she first ate an alien though, it sort of became like an addiction. Like clearly she’s different in some way, but maybe eating aliens is the main root and cause of it outside just her origins. Like, we lost a lot of her inner dialogue and thoughts after a certain point. Which was probably on purpose.
It’s just interesting though, because now we see her the same was as the other characters do, when in the beginning it was always her motivations and side of things we got first. Now we don’t get that. Instead we see the side of “oh I projected my sister onto her” and an entirely different context to the beginning of the story. Because now it’s not focused on Nomamoto anymore but the drama of the people around her, and their motivations.
