I can’t believe they just casually dropped the fact that Halebob was straight up brainwashed and is the sole reason Santa Industries even managed to exist. Dude really sacrifices himself in his final moments for everyone. He didn’t try to do anything to save himself or ensure his own survival, he really gave it all for his juniors. Crazy how that persisted past the brainwashing too. He seemed like a pos but not the absolute worst to begin with, and now we learn that’s because he wasn’t one to begin with.
Man that’s so tragic. Halebob wasn’t the hero they deserved he was the one they needed.
Yessssss!!! I went from absolute hating him to feeling so so bad for him and it feels SO unfair how his story wrapped up...even if it would be hard for the public to accept him his teammates should've absolutely been waaaaaay more grateful...not whatever the pink haired lady offered him at the end...his sacrifice and dedication really moved and surprised me...my man deserved better
The craziest part is that no one knows, or will remember. He will never be remembered for his ultimate sacrifice and heroism, only the evil he was forced to become by the brainwashing.
I like how he conversation about the man who turned into a tiger was foreshadowing, cause the MC was never warned about it until the mother gave the warning. She wanted to watch the MC succeed but be shackled by that scholarship, and even potentially end up like the man did. She didn’t push for it or against it though. Offering help but never enough to fix things or change things. Just to prolong them. Create false hope.
I also like how the beach scene is recontextualized. The mom was worried the MC would get drowned lol. At first it seemed like the mother wanted to live through her daughter, and was just possessive of her and a helicopter parent, but then it turned out she was just trying to make sure her daughter didn’t do anything bad. She’s not perfect but damn, I wasn’t expecting that twist. It kind of foreshadowed the daughter was off though quite a bit. Even just looking at the interactions. She never interjected to either’s benefit, like during the argument.
