Ellu prolly killed him cuz his family ordered him to do so, must've been political to start the war, it's all foreshadowed so far. That explains why he feels kinda guilty and the sudden exposition of his position and feelings towards his family. He didn't wanna do it but still did it to gain their love and validation or something, he's not painted as that much of a villain yet so they seem to set up a redemption arc for him still, they prolly won't kill him off at the end.
Minor spoiler, but yes Ellus is alive at the end
As for the other stuff, it was like, 80% family political schemes and wanting love/validation, 20% his own obsession with Griz. He didn't want to kill a kid, but it was a win-win for him anyway. While he does feel bad about it, Twilight was annoying and Towa's still in the way, so only a little bad
"Move jimmy three steps" Lmao whaaat? HAHAHAHA
