The situation is like this:

There's a guy in my class, before he used to pick on me and everything, then we became friends and really close, this guy text me everyday, he wakes me up in the morning with text, and If i don't know something he is the first one to offer help, he also stare at me sometimes, Lately he don't mind if i touch him like poke his face or wear his glasses (before he used to mind) and he knows my bf too, he draw yaoi pics for me even though he is against it, he truly listens to what I say anytime, and a girl did a horrible thing to me before, he got upset for my sake and deleted the girl of social networking sites including the comments but lately I notice that when i talk about my bf i can see a lonely expression on his face, but he hides with a smile and a comment like "aww"

I asked him if he likes me, he said as a friend only and nothing else, but he also rejected a love confession from a girl.
When I asked him why, he said he is not ready yet.

I know is weird, like... yh we are friends, but....
Do you think he has feelings for me or just my imagination?

nice yuki says October 9, 2014 6:13 pm

I think he does like you. He helped and stayed by your side and that kind of guy feels like he thinks of you as special. I think when he said only as a friend is because maybe he's worried that you don't feel that way or he just want to hide it because you have a bf so he doesn't want to ruin the relationship.
And this is my guess but I think when a guy starts picking on a girl and keeps doing it, it means "hey I like you" which is kind of weird.
I never had this experience but hope it helps.

It sounds like he wants to be good friends with you and if he's not ready for a relationship try to respect that as well. It won't do you any good to push yourself and him into something you're both not ready for. There's also the possibility that he just has a deep platonic fondness for you without romantic feelings. Personally I'd just remind myself that romantic love is no better than platonic love and enjoy the friendship to it's fullest.

Thanks, I also have a bf but I don't want to hurt him.

    Magnolia October 9, 2014 10:30 pm

Well, I think that this is an unusual attentiveness even among friends. I tend to agree with Tavi though. It is not necessarily a romantic interest but an honest platonic fondness expressed towards you because he sees you as an ideal girl (his actions suggest that you are kind, nice and warm, otherwise he wouldn't have taken the trouble to delete someone from social networks as a form of retaliation because she hurt you). Maybe he sees in you the attributes of someone he was exceptionally fond of when he was a child, like his mother, aunt, a teacher etc.
Anyways my advice for you is not to trouble yourself over uncertain things, just enjoy this relationship the way it is, especially that everything is clear (i.e. he knows you have a bf and that you only see him as a friend etc.). I hope this was helpful.

    Thank-you it helped alot.
Even though I try not to care it did scare me a little when my friend said, when I was talking about my bf, his face showed a little bit of jealousy, I am very close to him, I truly wish to maintain this friendship as it is, thanks all of u for the advice :)

As dumb/cheesy as this sounds, in my experience women can truly sense if a guy likes them. Trust your gut.

    Thanks :) Miara

Of course. Granted, if you have a BF and your friend hasn't said anything about his feelings, you probably shouldn't bring it up to him because your friend probably doesn't want his feelings to get in the way of his friendship with you.

What made you like Yaoi?

To be honest out of curiosity I clicked on the anime of Sekaiich Hatsukoi, I found the first episode so sweet and cute and funny, I carried on and since that time I lost interest in normal type of anime and manga, I make yaoi story on my mind, I wish my favorite yaoi characters would turn reality :x Yaoi is life I can read it 24h.

Even tho I still love Shounen anime however girls hardly play any role and I stopped watching shoujo anime as well ._.

Am I the only one who changed after liking yaoi?

    yuki August 27, 2014 7:01 pm

Hehe you are not the only one that changed:-D
I m also used to avoid yaoi but now I cant live without reading

    Wataru August 27, 2014 7:44 pm

Haha I'm so different here @.@,I was browsing some anime amv(s) and randomly I clicked on an amv for Sekaiich Hatsukoi in that time I was 14 and I didn't know that there's something called homosexualty in the world or things such as love between same sex I was like WTF!!! I didn't sleep that night I was freaked out XD but then I thought it was another crazy idea from the anime world!! of course I got to expand my horizon and have an idea about THAT side of world (my friends have something to do with this XD) and so on..avoided it~~tried one~~avoided it again~~watched some yaoi ova then WOAH I'm hooked on this sweet dark world whom led me to the manga world hehehe ^_____^

Actually I've never been interested in yaoi till I visited mangago and it didn't happen straight away. My experience with manga started with shoujou, josei, romance, drama, slice of life, horror, psychology (and sometimes mature and adult and I got introduced to ecchi by accident, I thought I was reading a normal josei but then I understood what ecchi meant).
I kept reading the normal genres I usually read here on mangago because the chapters used to load pretty fast. I could see that there were a lot of people who were enthusiast about yaoi, but I told myself there is no need to try it because it probably won't interest me, however after several weeks, curiosity got the better part of me because I couldn't find a new shojou/ josei to read (and I read a lot of them), so I switched to oneshots though I hated them and when I couldn't find any interesting ones, I grabbed a yaoi instead (it was easy because, lots of yaoi titles are featured on the front page. I wouldn't say that I got hooked straight away because I stopped reading when the two leads had a french kiss. However after another couple of weeks, I decided to try it again after doing a research on this genre and I got to realize that it was marketed to women in the first place and that bara (gei comics) is the one which is marketed to male audience.
This is how I started to read yaoi and became a fan of this genre. It is not because of the smexy scenes (in my vocabulary smexy stands for smut and sexy, not smart and sexy). Steamy scenes even with a plot are just hentai (and I don't enjoy it because it would be too crude for my taste).
What got me so interested, what made me a fan of this genre is that I saw in it a universe which I didn't see in shojou/ josei. In some cases the uke is so cute (I mean most of the ukes I know about are more cute and feminine than shojou/ josei female leads, semes are even more outstanding than most of the leads in shojou/josei, we can see all their emotions (from love and jealousy, to hatred, dishonesty and sadism), the emotions in some of the relationships could be just so intense and profound that shojou/ josei can't compare with it, the dark side, violent, abusive, sadist side of a relationship is also well depicted in yaoi but this isn't the case with shojou/ josei (except "Bitter Virgin" maybe which stand out in its on way). Finally, from my perspective, I am not reading about a 100% homosexual relationship in yaoi, but a particular form of a heterosexual relationship because the seme/uke duo is built upon an heterosexual model (there are few yaoi which actually deal with the problems and strains of homosexuality because of the view of others, of society in general, like Shiranu Wa Omae Bakari and Bronze).
Finally, reading yaoi has enticed me to be more picky, to learn about all the available genres in the market, to have the patience to look for an outstanding shojou or josei which can give me the same emotions or fun that I get when reading a yaoi, and to be more tolerant (I don't read yuri at all, ok I am not 100% open, but I can feel the agony and torment of someone who falls in love with someone from the same sex, it is still a taboo subject in many places around the world. When love is involved it can't be helped and I read yesterday an interesting thought from "Bronze" which goes along the lines of: "I would still love you if you are a man or a woman, a cat or a dog, a plant or a machine" (I mean wow! The mangaka was savant enough to drop this question from the main lead talking to a girl: "did you fall in love with me because I am a guy? Would you still love me if I were a girl?" Just wow, what an interesting point of view (and it is nice to find some of those not only in yaoi but in all different manga genres, some form of "philosophy" which can induce you to change your perspective on some tricky issues).

    Tavi August 27, 2014 9:50 pm

Hmm I don't think reading yaoi has changed me much, I still read tons of shoujo, seinen and shounen. I still watch a bunch of different animes. lol I think versatility keeps it interesting for me. If all I read was one genre I suspect I'd grow tired of it pretty quick. Especially since 'romance' of any sort really isn't something I find that entertaining and it seems to be a major theme in almost every single manga and anime out lately.

I think I started reading yaoi almost by accident really, I started reading some shounen ai books without realizing that I had actually gotten into that category and found the story lines were well thought out, had great art and were just as interesting as the 'straight' stories I was reading. So from there it expanded into reading yaoi. The sex didn't even make me think twice really, maybe because I was so use to slashers in various fandoms that I belonged too from TV. lol

    Anonymous August 27, 2014 10:00 pm

tbh, I avoided any 18+ stuffs. Even in mangas. I don't feel sexual attraction by looking at the characters, but it gets me aroused by looking the sex scenes. Be it yaoi, yuri or the usual hentai/smut. When I heard about asexuality( and aromanticism) and identified myself as one (for a non-allosexual all the 18+ content throw around is really intimidating), I became more confident in myself somehow and less scared to take a look in those stuffs. Plus learned a lot about feminism, body shamming, slut shamming, objectification, etc. I also stopped to reflect a lot about gender and myself. I became more open minded to face those stuffs. So I decided to give a try and look on those things(18+). I started to understand better what it means to be aroused. When I was younger I used to enjoy romantic stuffs, when I got older I lost the taste for those stuffs. I do identify myself as aromantic (and the amatonormativity in the stories bother me a lot when you get conscious of them), yet I do enjoy reading a bit of romantic relationships (as I also enjoy reading about deep relationships of different types). What I like more on yaois and yuri, would be the sensation of equal footing. I also hate the "wife" status sounding as something as "house only" person. Plus most of the dynamics on yaois are different from most of shoujos. It's frustrating to read stories where the women have no work ambitions, in most of the mangas, women are just the support role with no self ambition, an accessory in training trying to be deserved by some male partner(?!).

Just Another Girl August 27, 2014 10:30 pm

I use to like Shounen Ai. Eventually after reading so much shounen ai I wanted to see the characters do something more than just kiss.

    hi everybody! August 27, 2014 10:42 pm

I found junjou romantica on youtube translated in my mother tongue.. and I started see it out of curiosity, and when I discovered it was a gay love story my normal life ended

    Zochris August 27, 2014 11:08 pm

I accidentally watched Junjou Romantica thinking it was a shounen and i watched it and fell in love instantly, then i found out there is such a thing as "Yaoi" then i went berserk, started reading Yaoi all the time and dropped shounen because Yaoi has everything i look for in a manga.. XD and also Yaoi changed me in some ways..i also became a strong gay right supporter xD haha

    x3block August 27, 2014 11:50 pm

I somehow stumbled upon Vassalord, and thought it was extremely amazing, causing me to reread it a couple times. I couldn't find anything else like it. After that I started getting into shonen-ai, and then into yaoi since there was more variety.

Dont say lazy August 28, 2014 1:40 am
