It’s a smart thing to do. If he took a second wife, her family will be involved and they will want second son to be on the throne. It’s basically painting a target on Richard’s back and the Emperor loves him in part that Richard was born from the woman he loved. Makes me wonder how the late Empress was and how courting between her and the Emperor went down.

You know what? No. Bottom is a piece of and I'm tired of everyone in the comments acting like that reaction was in ANY way valid. Projecting his paranoia and shitty behavior onto other people when he hasn't been lied to isn't okay. As a person with many issues related to abandonment and trust, I say with assurance it's not okay to hurt people because you have trauma. I don't enjoy reading the MC with the ML. ML is an asshole who has no charm at all and it's painful, I had to scroll their recent smutt scene because it made me feel so gross. It's not coming off consensual or wanted and it really bothers me. I wish they left the smutt out honestly, the story is interesting but the rape is really killing it for me.
