Comparing it to the latest chapters of the novel, it would be safe to say that the darkness mentioned was the "purge" of ancient powers done by the divine race (?angels). At first I thought the disappearance of ancient powers were due to the war done by the first/ancient white star, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Anyway, that's just a penny of my thoughts ٩(๑❛ᴗ❛๑)۶

The novel has a lot of filler chapter. Good thing they skipped it in the manhwa. I remember reading 2-3 chapters about Gio doing some gardening and butchering meat with Honey. I feel like i gained a life skill after reading that chapter lmao (￣∇￣")
