1a. you know those artists who are good at drawing but shit at writing? that is mingwa
1b. you know those writers who can only write the same story but in a different font? that is also mingwa
2. if you're going to give a character like jkk (someone who is unlikeable from the start and has 0 redeeming qualities) a remdemption arc you have to commit and give it the time and attention it deserves otherwise you get... w/e this is supposed to be
3. kim dan is pathetic and has low self esteem however i thought he would gradually change and become more confident but of course that would never happen considering who wrote this
4. the smut is mid even out of context and as a pwp
5. the two have 0 chemistry and their relationship is built on nothing but lust despite mingwa's attempt to make it seem theyre totally in love with each other
6. i can't believe these two mf's are getting nendo's
i give this shit 0.5/5 stars and i would make it 1 star if kim dan became a shy power bottom who gains more confidence or kim dan bent jkk over and fucked his tight hole but that is never going to happen bc of again who wrote this
"it'S oNLy ThE fIrSt cHaPtEr"
and in the 1st chapter alone there was a black indigenous man saying a corny ass line like that during the civil war era add on the fact jaxx admitted to not doing the proper research on a sensitive historical topic and y'all think it would have been good??
so y'all are doubling down on jaxx's admitted ignorance for what? a shitty race play yaoi? and y'all wonder why yaoi fans are seen as fetishizers
imagine a black woman writing a gay story romanticizing the atrocities committed against south koreans and watch how the same people calling black people SeNsItIvE (who tf wouldn't be sensitive about chattel slavery like hello) suddenly see how problematic and weird it is
its also funny how black people are the only ones who aren't allowed to be angry at what happened to their people y'all ain't slick
ik this is fiction but holy shit this has me pressed idk how y'all read the situationship trope what's more irritating is theyre gonna end up together after all he's done i wish the fl would gain some self esteem and leave
men like him know EXACTLY what theyre doing they give mixed signals to keep you hooked so they can have access to you (and your body)
...i think you might be projecting a little bit. from the beginning we are shown how much they mean to each other and how much he goes out of his way to care for her and spend time with her. esp the recent chapters??
yes the typa men you are talking about suck but this story isn't about a man like that
i get what u mean but i think thats a pretty surface level way of looking at this.
is he perfect? fuck no, far from it. is he makings stupid ass decisions? absolutely
BUT despite how frustrating it is to see, he clearly seems to spiral pretty easily
one thought becomes another and then goes down this whole overthinking rabbit hole
the way i see it is that he is giving her mixed signals because he's giving HIMSELF mixed signals, he wants her close and clearly loves her but is scared he'll lose her and thinks a friendship would outlast everything else but then he knoowwss thats not what he truly wants but all in all hes kind of a wimp
so
his dumbass doesn't truly know what he's doing, he THINKS he's making the best choices and got it underwraps but clearly he dont
ive read other stories where the guy is aaccttuuallyy borderline the spawn of Satan tho so maybe thats why im only mildly annoyed with this one
intentions matter. mincheol isn't NEARLY as calculating about any of this as the type of men you're talking about. he's hurt haneul repeatedly and made shitty decisions time and time again, but he's never had anything but her best interests in mind. i can't believe i'm talking about mens' mental health (ew) but mincheol undoubtedly has problems. he's got an inferiority complex, self esteem and abandonment issues that he's struggled with since he was a child. he understands things differently from others and makes sense of things in a way that's influenced by his own lack of self confidence. however, even through his own struggles, you cannot deny that there have been a plethora of instances where he's shown his honest and sincere dedication, love and care towards haneul. hell, even in this main issue of being unable to commit to her, he's doing it FOR HER, via a warped and twisted definition of it sure, but he thinks he's prptecting haneul by doing so. even in his worst moments he's always put haneul first before himself, and that's what has eventually led to this stagnation in their relationship. he's nowhere near guilt or blame free, but you cannot deny that he's never meant to do anything to hurt haneul. this manhwa isn't about men who are calculative and planned in their actions, it's just about loving someone who's struggling mentally. the fact tbat you interpret it as the former is almost definitely influenced by your own past experiences and biases, which is fine. i'm sorry about whatever happened to you ♡
you must of missed the part where i said i don't date men nor have i had a situationship i'm going to hold your hand with a glove when i say this just bc someone has an observation it doesn't mean they've experienced it by that goofy ass logic everyone who makes an observation about anything ever is projecting despite not having the experience
even if you aren't projecting, you have a shallow ass take. people beg for complex male love interests in shoujo/josei comics and then people have takes like yours on Mincheol.
in my personal opinion, Mincheol is the quintessential overly dedicated self-sacrificing love interest. in dramas he would be the second ml who cries and gives up on the FL, but since here he's actually the first ML, we get his character explored in depth and see how much even characters like him who want nothing but good for their loved ones hurt them.
calling him manipulative, especially manipulative in the context of wanting haneul for her body is stupid when we see the shit he's continued to do for her way before they even slept together
so now you finally understand how goofy you sound when you say i'm projecting
ig all the comments below mine were also projecting huh?
notice how you said "in my personal opinion" ? keep that same energy to others who have their own thoughts
just bc he's insecure and does nice things for her it doesn't mean he can't also use her for her body which is literally what he's doing when he's sleeping with her but can't commit
beautifully said! yes, people really do beg for complex male leads and then interpret them so wildly incorrectly that it really goes to show that they're not actually ready for that one trendy opinion they've been seeing all over the internet. media literacy is at an all time low when people see a self-sacrificing, mentally ill character so well written and still form such a surface-level understanding of them. i'm not even responding to op anymore because their ridiculously defensive and argumentative tone in every reply just screams denial at this point, but if you've had dozens of people quite literally point out and spoonfeed you all the details (that you should've picked up yourself if you weren't reading with your eyes closed) to completely disprove this notion of "only using haneul for her body" and you STILL refuse to accept it, i don't know what to tell you

i remember when this first came out and there were arguments all the time over the love triangle
one of the few bl's where the mc is likeable, doesn't go back to his abuser and holds him accountable
on another note why do bl artists draw highschool students like grown ass men
Because they’re 20 at least the MC and Second ML is
they all look like they're in their 30's the students look no different than the teacher
