i should have assumed from the title "copycat" that there would be some copying of behavior involved but the mc reminds me of sasaeng fans in korea... his actions are borderline creepy and weird. he even knows it's bad but doesn't stop? what the helly? it's a good thing he's a "cute copycat" so he can get away with this type of behavior but if he weren't as "cute", idk if the seme would have fallen for him at all
altho, i do occasionally like my ukes/semes to be crazy and weird and obsessive but only when the characters fully embrace it. this mc is a poorly executed version, pretending that he's not doing anything wrong with thoughts like "this is probably ok right?"
aside from the unrelatable mc, idk if it's the fan translation or the author herself but the flow of the plot is not it either :/ how the story presents mc's trauma (his relationship with his dad, bullying, trying to kill himself, his unrequited love for his childhood lesbian friend) was done poorly. his hardships are used as a plot device and flashbacks are shown whenever convenient to explain the mc's personality but maybe if it was highlighted a bit better and if the panels weren't so messed up, i would have actually liked the mc a little more
there must be a reason it's called hounds of sisyphus hmmm i wonder if "sisyphus" in this case refers to jinwoo (teach) and all the hounds eventually follow him and guwon becomes a hound for him too
Or maybe how teach will eventually be one of the hounds
And be dependent on guwon?
Or that he will be as obsessed with guwon as guwon is obsessed with him
So being dependent on each other eventually
We know that teach is a little bit missed up in the head from the first season and while its justified i think the author will expand on that
Sisyphus is a myth about a King who was punished for hubris by the gods, he was sent to the Underworld to push a giant boulder up a mountain only to have it roll down again. He would be burdened with this monotonous task forever.
Now the Underworld may be the outside world, or fuck even the inside world of their little civilization. In which case, at least now, Guwon is Sisyphus. Always acting to maintain the monotonous never-ending task of attaining peace or a functioning society. However, I don't know if I would consider him hubristic, maybe in his belief that he is a leader, but he literally is and he does acknowledge that he needs multiple people to run shit. But the "hounds" part would make sense.
However, if Sisyphus is meant to be teach then maybe his hubris is thinking he can change Guwon, or thinking he can save the others. His punishment could be to remain trapped in the metaphorical underworld that is their little civilization, tasked with the monotonous task of what though? Being a teacher? Being Guwon's lover? Would the hounds then be the actual hounds and Guwon, who have the physical power to ensure he never makes it out of the underworld?
Idk I lowkey ended up with more questions than answers.
we as readers definitely feel a lot of things cause we care about them and we've invested our time into their relationship lol there's a million of us third-wheels in these romance stories
we try to put ourselves in their shoes and think about what we would and would not do but in the end, these characters are separate from us and i look forward to where the author takes these characters from here c:
this is me coping lol just gotta ride the wave when mangas/webtoon get to this part of the story

what if he's saying get down because there is an actual enemy in front of them? i can only hope
