So my question is, is kyouji like that because he 1. Does not have romantic feelings to reciprocate back to satomi. and only see satomi platonically. - his ways of saying oh but I’ll be there for u is like unc&nephew zoning satomi? I mean considering the HUGE age gap too I’m crine. - but contradiction is that he showed so many mixed signals. Like why would he still willingly choose to meet regularly with satomi knowing damn well he likes him. And all that look too. Wayama Yama don’t draw more panels of their faces for nth man
2. Kyouji does want to reciprocate is worried that his yakuza work will harm satomi. -Ik ts story comedic but yakuza is still an Avery scary thing irl. In the story itself satomi has gotten scared and uncomfortable many times by yakuzas at both karaoke or famiresu iko. He nvr beg satomi to stay. - contradiction is that he’s been careful abt not wanting satomi involved in his work back even in karaoke iko, where it was obv more that kyouji didn’t like satomi romantically(i mean that’s gotta be the only way man kyouji shldnt be a pedo..) so him stil understanding satomi concern and not begging him to say doesn’t say anything about his feelings for satomi goddamit.
in my interpretation, he clearly holds romantic feelings for satomi but because of his profession and the obvious age gap, he clearly knows it's wrong/inappropriate and tries to keep a respectable distance, but still, i think the depth of his feelings for satomi leaks out a bit in some of his dialogue and actions. he wouldn't have told satomi that he'll stay by his side until the day he didn't need him anymore or keep bringing out satomi for food if he only felt a platonic/fatherly kind of love for him lol. to me, kyouji is the very picture of restraint, and what he says and does for satomi is not always direct but reveals obvious affection (in my mind). i think he tries his best to keep an image of an upright, responsible adult in front of satomi despite of his dangerous work. anyways kyouji avoidant final boss lol... i really wanna look at his brain under a microscope....

If you're talking about kyouji, I think its fully wrong calling him a coward, he's literally cant be in a deep relationship or getting in a relationship that satomi wants even thou he also wants it bcs basically kyouji fully knew that he can't endangering satomi safety, bcs his job is literally a dangerous one
