Idk, she clearly communicated with the man she loves, picked what would grant her true joy, AND I think going to the capital will advance the plot about her friend's murder !
No one here is truly good, they are all selfish in their own way, which I think makes the story nicer than many others (plus the fact that it's not taking 60 chapters to move on from a man...)
This^ plus she spent SEVEN YEARS of her youth and life towards her dead friends last wish. Not only did she spend the last seven years of her life trying to be a mother for her friend’s children, she also supported the household by actually performing as an official duchess and did all the work a real duchess would have done to manage the estate. I think she deserves to be “selfish” here. Mind you, i’m assuming she was IN HER PRIME as well. Some comments hating on her for “selfishly” leaving to finally pursue her passion are honestly not reading the same thing I just read. Though to give some grace to those comments, i also think its weird that she can’t just study and paint literally around/where micheal’s estate or land is lmao. But oh well, ig in this world painting can only be officially learned in the capital
Exactly, my guess is that maybe she can get the best education/opportunities in the capital, it's like how many of us aim for the best schools and universities or places to work at. She wants to see how far she can go.
And even if moving IS optional to study painting, she almost got zero freedom her entire life, from a sheltered teenager, overworked "married" young adult, mother and duchess, moving away and focusing on her self rather than being married and dealing with high society better is wiser. That's why i'm so glad the author actually has the main couple be truly in love, patient and understand (and the communication between them is lovely)
I'm soooo glad to see how well everyone communicates and moves on!
I was worried that this was gonna be a cliché "oh the ex is evil/annoying and wants her back and the new wife plots" etc
This is refreshing !
I love how the crown prince learned from his mistakes and embraces his life while keeping his people a priority, AND not badmouthing and working to improve his current marriage!

OMG finally !
