Sex scene was really disappointing honestly. Ive really begun to hate sex scenes in Korean BLs because they are either noncon or the bottom/uke is constantly saying no, stop, wait, it's too much. It's like Korean writers are scared to show a uke who is actuly really into it and wants it. You've shown him basically begging for sex for chapters on end but now that he's having it it's no, stop, I don't like this, wait. These BL writers sure know how to write the stalest sex scenes.

I totally agree. I’m always excited to read until I see the bottom screaming this bullshit like, STOP PLEASE, WAIT, I DON’T WANT THIS. And it completely turns me off. It always feels like a rape scene. They can just call each other’s names and moan, we don’t need all this bullshit.
seems old-fashioned from the times where enjoying sex for women was treated like a real sin and the only thing to break it to allow pleasure in fiction is expressing not liking it and feeling forced to have pleasure. japanese stories seem to grow out of it, korean ones are kinda still there.
I totally agree with you in almost all of manhwas both yaoi and hetero the consent is loose or not existing entirely and the male leads do not listen are not gentle, are not careful, but there is one more thing that is standing out to me in some manhwas, the expressionless faces or almost expression less faces, it feels cold and with no emotion, no love, no excitement, no nothing, also the approach to sex the initiation to it is kinda bland idk, these male leads have no game. That is why I didn't like the whole sex that is portrayed, all of it.
Yeah I was gonna write that on my comment but had to go do something. Koreans are very prudish in general. The women are not allowed to be forward with wanting and enjoying sex you see it a lot in kdramas. Literally scenes where the woman is just laying there because if they showed her actually enthusiastically wanting sex she would be labeled a whore. Korean BL manhwa writers are transferring that to their ukes especially the ones they design to be "cute" or "virgins" or "sweet" they don't dare "corrupt" their image by showing them enjoy sex. I was pleasantly surprised when an omega verse that I planned to drop because of the uke had the uke be very enthusiastic during his first time with the seme. He was literally the cute omega type but was saying yes, don't stop, please break me. Haha an exception to the rule.
OK yeah I'm dropping this. The story is bland and the same old same old and I can predict what the next 40 chapters are going to be like. The MC is the kind of character that you just can't root for. Not saying the ML was perfect but (and maybe the translation isn't the best) he wasn't so horrible. Also you have the audacity to be pissed when you hid the fact that you were the one who slept with him. Also this author is a prime example of why the misunderstanding trope is such a turn off. It can definitely be executed well but 90% of these BL authors are terrible writers and you have to be at least a decent writer to pull off the misunderstanding trope without making your readers roll their eyes. The MC is probably gonna keep getting sick and will be told he needs the Alphas pheromones. The ML will have a chasing arc where he doesn't fully understand that he's actually in love with the MC. More than like family expectations are involved and the root of why the ML has been an asshole. MC life with be in danger ML comes to the rescue, they make up, and live happily ever after. The end.
U're not wrong for disliking the trope, but i think some of the things you predicted were literally established from the beginning, The family issue and ML’s bias weren’t random reveals. Also the breakup wasn’t “MC hid it so now consequences”, ML genuinely believed he cheated on his boyfriend and felt guilty. Messy communication? Yes. Bad writing? I don’t think so..
The author introducing them at the beginning doesn't take away from predictable writing. Introducing an overused trope at the beginning still makes said trope. Overused and boring. Also never described the breakup in that manner. Talking about the hypocrisy of the MC surrounding the breakup. It's bad writing because it's predictable same story already written a million times. It's bad writing because we are TOLD by the author (via Mc) that the ml has been absolutely horrible when what has been shown is that he's just been a bit of an asshole but obviously very caring of the the Mc. It's bad writing because MC makes a lot of jumps in logic that makes no sense given what we have seen so far. Even in real life humans can be very presumptuous and misunderstandings are part of life but using the excuse for hiding the baby with "Oh he won't want to take responsibility!" You're telling me the man who married you (even if it hasn't been romantic" the man who got you your job, the man who basically did almost everything you asked of him won't take responsibility if he finds out he got you pregnant?!?! The misunderstanding trope especially within BL stories is very rarely done well.
That’s fair actually, and i think this makes more sense than just calling it predictable. I still don’t fully agree that predictability automatically = bad writing though. For me execution matters more. I can understand being frustrated with MC’s logic bcs fear can make ppl irrational, but i didn’t read it as the author trying to convince us ML was secretly evil. I saw it more as MC projecting his own fears and insecurities onto someone who’s clearly flawed but not completely uncaring. But yeah i agree misunderstanding plots are hard to pull off and if the emotional logic doesn’t work for u then the whole thing falls apart..
I think you are just too use to the low quality writing if you think predictable writing isn't bad writing. You are free to continue to enjoy the story though. A lot of people enjoy junk writing that'd why the writing style is so popular.
Calling people used to "junk writing" just because they disagree feels more dismissive than analytical. Disliking predictable writing is a preference, not an objective measure of quality. Predictability can be boring to you without automatically making a story objectively bad, bcs execution still matters. If your argument only works by assuming everyone who disagrees has lower standards, then maybe the critique itself isn't as strong as you think.

The art is pretty, the ML is hot, and the story seems to be going in a good direction but I'm probably still dropping. The MC is just very boring and the stereotypical timid, naive, and quiet MC that Korean writers love writing. Also the audacity to create a very generic omega character but you then write that everyone around them could have sworn they were an Alpha. These authors really play on peoples intelligence because they know the average BL reader has none. :/ Also im completely over the boring blank character having everyone around them being attracted to them. I thought we were over the bella swan characters a log time ago. Author if you want me to believe everyone has the hots for the MC then actually make them attractive and give them an interesting personality.
Also the combination of his timidness, his physical build, and the clothes he wears just makes him come off as a child. Like im suppose to believe he's in his 20s but everything he does is giving preteen at most.

As I wade through the novel I notice his insights.. relatable? coherent? And he has many actually, but as it was stated he isn't good with words. He used his art to communicate instead. And he stopped paiting not bc he didn't have anything to say, but bc "he couldn't be honest with himself any longer" and he "wanted to hide".

The 40th story of an alpha(who was probably bullied directly by the bottom or by the bottoms family) making a medication to alter the secondary gender of the bottom. Even though the bottom comes from a powerful family he will not use any resources to stop or get back at the top because he'll be afraid that people will find out about his gender change so he will take being raped over and over again over possibly people knowing his secret. The asshole with the omega from before will try and rape him and his rapist (the top) will come and save him and he'll think about how he isn't that bad because the rapist saved him from being raped by someone else and what more could you ever want in a romance partner?
