Why is everyone mad at him? Calling him selfish my ass. These damn politics running his life. He goes to kill a dragon for 3 years to marry her, spends less than 6 months in Anatol only to go off on another campaign to fight a horde army in which his wife gets hurt and loses his baby. Then returns, she gets beaten by her father so he gives him his comeuppance. Now she just pledged herself for 4 more years to save his name status (which he only accepted to marry her), without even consulting him. Basically he will be with her for only 6 months in the 8 years he will have been married to her. She doing it for him, in her dreams. He built everything himself, he slayed the dragon, he made himself a knight, he built Anatol, he needed to find a more grateful sovereign who would actually appreciate a legend. The Princess isn’t on Maxi’s side, she is just a useful tool that can keep Riftan to heel because she sure can’t. Even the King knows he could’ve lost Riftan if he steps out wrong.
It’d be something else if this is what Maximillian wanted, but she doesn’t even understand what the heck she is doing. Man just wants to stay with his wife. Her self-sacrifice isn’t needed.
I really hate the ‘showing someone their place’ that Korean culture has when in manifests like this. Putting people down or the nail that sticks out gets the hammer. Even if your one year older or younger you have a role… I’m just blabbering… don’t mind me （￣へ￣）

i stopped reading about three chapters ago now. now waiting until i get to either stabby stabby the father, the two get a clue and finally stop going in circles with their relationship, or something else fun happens. which by all the reading of the comments. none has happened yet. so i'm still waiting.
So she is yet again stripped of choice. Has to bend the law to get so called justice and has to spend 4 years away from her husband right after winning a war. People sound excited but it just feels like she just gets dumped with the punishments. They should’ve just made sure he died and then there would’ve been no trial and it would’ve been swept under the rug. No one cares once a noble is dead.
If the duke died they would be against the crown so yet another set of complications.

He’s regarding his trauma responses as flaws in himself. It’s not his fault. And talking about it is literally the path to build trust between people. He just doesn’t know that because he’s never had that. Understanding can be the greatest gift even though he is showing more of his scars then he seems ready to. I’m surprised with all these concerns about Espers physical capabilities they would put more effort into mental health.

There were so many misunderstandings. I wanted Calix to explain how he suffered in the redone life, he drove her to poison herself after all, and before he could ever comfort her for his misunderstanding, the pope killed her first.
