It’s like, definitely uncomfortable, because each character has their own trauma. But like, this is what having an adult relationship is like? Like sometimes you step on your partners trauma by accident because of your own, but being mature and in a relationship means trying things, even if they don’t work. They’ve not even really known each other that long when you think about it. If this manga was tagged jousei, I feel like people wouldn’t be so confused or disappointed in the depth that their relationship drama is going.
I just reread this because the new season is coming out and like, omg. Guys, Kang is obsessed with yiyoung, he just doesn’t realize it yet. EVERY one of his past lovers was already an established, well loved, well respected professional, and Kang was typically much younger and greener. Not one of his past lovers seemed to take him seriously, or put him first. In a way, he was always in Yiyoungs position, but worse.
Now, he has yiyoung who loves him so much, is always cheering him on, etc, and he’s just worried that yiyoung, who Kang sees as just as amazing as his past lovers, is wasting his time on him. He literally has an inferiority complex. He’s trying to be a better lover to yiyoung by supporting him, being involved in yiyoungs professional interests instead of just “leaving the country for his own interests.” Like, he is trying to be the better lover, but yiyoung just doesn’t have the perspective to see that angle.
I do wanna see Kang squirm a little in this new season, but I do want them to work it out. I definitely do think it would be healthy to develop yiyoung into more of an equal in this new season, I just hope it doesn’t come from completely tearing Kang down.
Honestly I’m sorry grandma is on hospice but at least she’s alive T_T
