This author really knows how to piss me off near the end of their stories. They did it once with their other story and here it is again… how hard is it to just let him win
After the couple finally started to be together the seme revealed they had slept with one of their friends prior to them being together which made a whole conflict out of it and it was kinda weird bc the uke was getting advice about the seme from that friend I think. Idk it was just weird and left me feeling very dissatisfied bc the seme made a whole show about how he’s only ever loved the uke and how he’s the only one for him and bla bla bla
This story is just so beautiful in so many ways I love it so much. This author is impeccable AAAAAAAAAAAA. Very few authors can capture real gay-like experiences in such a realistic and comforting manner. Yoshii Haruaki, Ohshima Kamome, and Okura are just a few of the authors that can write these stories so brilliantly. Without it feeling inauthentic.
Ah yes of course the classic BL route of making the second love interest a horrible person to side track the fact the main one is also a horrible person. They’re about to go into the narrative that what sunbae is doing is horrible and disgusting yet what Woo-Jin has been doing is fine :// ah yes ofc the classic. Let me guess Woo-Jin is gonna save the day at some point soon or smth to show that he’s the good guy
The entire story showcases all of Joohas trauma and everything that he’s gone through. Then we finally see that he’s escaped this environment and can live happily with dooshik just for him to forget everything? That’s so stupid
It shows that he needed to forget everything to be happy? Which is just such an AWFUL narrative to have and it’s LAZY. And as we can see he’s not actually happy bc he still gets night terrors yet HE isn’t experiencing it but his body is. It’s almost like the author didnt want to go through the complexity of overcoming trauma and just was like :) ok I won’t let’s make him forget everything. So the entire payoff of the story where we finally get to see Jooha happy feels as though it’s not actually him instead a past version of him? Idk this is so dumb
And for anyone that says “but Joohas so happy now” he could’ve been happy even with his memories and if you think the only way that he can be happy is if he forgets everything then that’s just a lie, it isn’t easy but he definitely could’ve especially with all the effort that Dooshik does for him. That’s one of the reasons why this ending is so stupid. Overcoming trauma isn’t easy to write but it rly showcases that this author doesn’t have the capabilities of actually writing it because they’d much rather take this route.
I think its still better this way than remembering all that shit. Would he really overcame all that shit if he remembers all the bad things that happens to him? Rape? Gangrape? Prostitution? He is a human, why not live it more happily with the one who makes him happy. If it happens to you. Do you think you can be happy after all of that?
The idea that a person that has gone through so much in their life and isn’t able to be happy is so harmful to the people that have lived through these experiences. There are stories of people that have lived through these experiences and still found a way to be happy. I never said it was easy but it’s harmful to think that these victims can never be happy again. And it’s harmful to think that the only way they can is if they simply forget about it. This is why there are so many different forms of therapy nowadays. A lot of them are made for victims to cope not to forget but to be able to live their lives as comfortably and happy as they can.
Regardless the author still wrote that eventually Jooha regains his memories but she just didn’t want to write his recovery so she’d rather make him forget everything. Purely from a writing perspective it has a horrible payoff (and also if you want to talk about real life experiences it’s extremely rare for someone to actually go through amnesia)
Yo I agree lol. I mean , it’s cool to see him free of his trauma but like the message portrayed is kinda weird ? Like “he’s too broken so he must lose his memories to be happy”… but yeah I also think that the author decided to take the amnesia path because writing a recovery / mental health journey would be long to write , and I have a feeling author wanted to end the main story faster
Which is so valid. But the reason I’m bringing this up is bc the entire fanbase is gooning over it as though it’s a masterpiece. But it’s not it’s awful and reallyyy cheapens the story down to just smut and fluff when I thought it was a lot more than that. I thought the author could really dive into Joohas mentality and Dooshiks as well bc in the main ending Joohas amnesiac self told dooshik that he really missed the original Jooha but we haven’t seen any side of that. And maybe they will dive into it later but for now just the fact that the author went this route just shows that they couldn’t come up with anything else besides a lazy overdone plotpoint (which RARELY HAPPENS IN REAL LIFE TOO). The side stories reallyyyy ruined the story for me tbh.
I love this story so much and this story becomes a lot more enjoyable once you read it from a different perspective. This isn’t supposed to be an original love story where love triumphs all. Instead it’s a deconstruction of the stories that this story is based on (the romance fantasy genre). It showcases all of the stupidity in these stories and it does so knowingly, it was confirmed in the most recent chapter where the new prince’s fiancée talks about how the prince would never meet with another woman when he’s bethrothed but that's how she got her role. I love it bc the MC is using every stereotypical circumstance to his advantage and he knows these characters are so one-dimensional (bc that’s how the romance fantasy characters are) that he can easily manipulate them to do what he wants. I love stories that are considered “meta” which is them outsmarting or making a joke of a genre and this story does that so well. I don’t believe it should be taken seriously but rather it should show the flaws of the romance fantasy genre and how trash it really is.
This is suchhhh an interesting manga and I love it so much.

People that claimed to loveee this story so much for its depth and storytelling yet as soon as it didn’t do what they wanted they’re complaining about how the story was actually bad? I thought this would happen b/c they kept on ignoring some of the biggest things about the story such as how every time Jo/Ian had anyyy development TJ would be the first thing TJ thought of. Jo was what Ian dreamed he wanted just like how Jo dreamed of Ian as well (this was also very early on in the story) but they learn that dreams aren’t realistic and by being with Ian Jo was losing himself and Ian kept on being reminded of his reality which is that he loved TJ. Also the complaints about the two year time skip, Ian changed after going to prison they made this pretty clearly early on in the story and here we see that TJ changed too he stopped being hungry for power and realized that he didn’t need much that he was okay even without it.
I actually don’t think this story is that great ngl I find it very interesting tho but for “fans” to sharpen their blades whenever smth happens that they don’t like and discrediting the rest of the story as though this all wasn’t foreshadowed since the first season then yikes.
Tj would be the first thing Ian thought of*
