I got to chapter 53 of this, and while it's not bad, it's like.... I would describe it as, overall mid...?
Calm confusion / spoilers under cut
I have to start by acknowledging the art. It's pretty, I like to look at it -- the facial and body expressions are lacking though? Not in a way that it looks bad, just more like... uncanny. Somehow, the movement between one panel to another are not always fluid, and the expression work is really subdued.
The plot is understandable, even with the rough translation work, but somehow... it is not standing out. The romance between her and Tan is also somehow very mid. I am not truly feeling the chemistry, u know? It sounds strange to say, but he doesn't really initially have a reason to start being attracted to her? Like, he is certain she is hiding his identity from him for some reason, but instead of being suspicious of her, he's more concerned with, umm, the fact he thinks she's pretty & he wants her? Idk. I think it could be written better and I'd like it more
This is one of those reads I would describe as "isekai slop" to my friends. Did I give it the old college try? Yes. Will I remember it? No.
The author is lucky I think the Tongue of Provocation is a super cutie otherwise I wouldn't keep reading this LMFAOO spoiler rambling under cut.
Positives of this comic rly rly quick bc I hate just bashing smthn. The fight scenes are KILLER, I must say. The art is also very nice to look at.
Okay but that's all I've got tbh moving on
Why build up so much mystery around the mystery demon lady being a force of evil when it was just going to be turned around in an instant and revealed to be the silver haired girl? And that "uwu I'm not evil.... I just wanted to be friends.... YOU wanted the demon form...
The misunderstanding between Valentine (Ballantine? Tf?) being the Emperor and Miss Mayfield not knowing is like, completely necessary for the story & I understand this - also, it's kind of funny how all his closest friends assume he still dislikes the farm without actually asking him. Like, obviously they would, I just love seeing how naturally the misunderstanding is being written.
"Just talk to each other!" And they do! The issue just keeps becoming more multilayered, mainly due to Izkander himself actually being so hysterically clever that he's always one step ahead - he is his own obstacle! AND HE REALIZES THIS, BUT STILL FINDS WAYS TO RATIONALIZE IT (without being a horrible person)!! It's hilarious!! He has GOT to be one of my favorite MLs that I've ever encountered. Truly meticulous, a strategic problem solver like a king ought to be - and not even too clueless to his own emotions that it's frustrating. He's superb.
This is not even mentioning how wonderful the side characters are. Princess Katarina is obviously the first to come to mind, but I was also enthralled with Lady Kitty. I found myself wishing they were both given a bit more attention. (Though, I am a sucker for poised women with sharp eyes LOL)
Finally, truly, I like the main character a lot. She is nothing like me, and I could never be like her, but that's why I love her. She reminds me of a great buddy of mine, seeing her succeed just gives me a great sense of satisfaction. I think it's even mentioned in the beginning, her farmer Aunt and Uncle found themselves happier just by watching the FL become happy - I love that sentiment. The author has written some beautiful ideals into this that were soothing and moving. I love it here
I feel like how they took down Greede was a bit anticlimactic considering just how much damage he's been doing LMFAOOO
The two grandpa dragons having petty beef that is so destructive that it's ruining the lives of entire kingdoms is very ... on-brand for beings that have lived an eternity. I can't even be disappointed or surprised
The abundance of tiny queen bees that are just becoming a checklist of harem girl tropes is, frankly, making me laugh. Considering there isn't any fanservice of them (thus far) I don't mind this joke continuing
I never like... the trope where a creature calls the thing raising them "master" (Flame with Sejun) ; I don't mind if it's an apprentice / their mentor situation - but when it's used like a owner and their property, I get squicked tf out. I honestly like Flame otherwise, World Tree characters always have the cutest designs, and she is no exception
Iona and Theo (Teo?? the fuck) are the only pairing I give a fuck about in this fucked up bitch of an earth .... (/lh) and I know that shit isn't gna be canon. You ever just FEEL when a pairing is just kind of a joke, but that's why it's the best one???? Yeah. That's how Iona and Theo feel
SPEAKING of Theo, considering there is a lot of importance put onto him being "Theo, the Golden Cat", I have been SQUINTINGGGGG at the Golden Dragon & the Golden Tower. I would LOVE if Theo is tied to it somehow, but who tf knows how that would even work. LOLLLL
Anyways I think that's all I got. If u read this far, u are my frickin rock☆star
If we think about it Sejun bought flame (as an apple) so i guess it makes sense that way haha. And we know sejun treats everyone as companions (even theo haha) and not see someone below as him
Well there is definitely a golden dragon but i haven't read that far yet, but i think theo's title is definitely becausw of his color and i sane luck (and money)
Spoilers too
1. Facts. But it's more anticlimactic in the novel than this one. What surprised me a lot here is Ppyuppyu.
2. Real. Afaik dragons are commonly known for their lonesome and being quite territorial. But it's different in here, since they live in groups/clans and that originally they live with other dragons of other colors harmoniously. There is a reason why they fight now and trust me, it is not about Kaiser knocking Kelion's teeth out.
3. I kinda don't get this one since I'm gay but now that you mentioned it, it defo looks like it. And also, WELCOME TO THE FAM, SWEET! (Dalmi or something idk + plus I don't really know if this is the bee who gets Sejun's naming privilege)
4. I also don't like it, but I think it's similar to the "queen bees becoming a checklist of harem girl trope". ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
5. It's canon. Don't let Iona hear you say it or she'll disintegrate you.
6. Though there is a golden dragon and golden tower, there is however no connection with Theo but with Yuren. You can actually credit this on Sejun's naming privilege.
I won't speak of specific spoilers, though this review will be detailed, as for some reason I decided to stick it out and read all of this.
It's ok. Like a solid 5/10, as somehow it's not as deep or emotional as it was trying to be. Also a comment compared this to "High School Boy" -- but imo that comic is repulsive compared to this one, so idk, be at ease ig?
Still, the main character is called and treated as a slave even after he legally is no longer a slave, which I found... Highkey dumb as shit. Especially after he flexes some privileges that only legal citizens/non-slaves can exert
A lot of the romance is more digestible to me. I REALLY like that the girls' feelings are also a part of the conversation, even if they are rarely passing the Bechdel Test. I read primarily shoujo / girl-centered romances -- so that is where my opinions originate from.
TL;DR -- This is an easier read, since the symbolism is simple, and is usually just straight-up explained instead of left to the interpretation of the reader. The pace is quick, and rarely lingers on emotional moments. I will likely not be saving or rereading this.
I LOVE this comic so dearly, I was wondering if anyone else has read any hidden gems like this one? I have also been obsessed with "Solo Farming in the Tower", and I enjoy cooking and found family themes. Romance is also fine. If you have anything that comes to mind, please let me know !!!
honestly im not sure if these would fit what youre looking for but some of my favs are: "solo eating" and "leveing up only by eating" are kinda similar (and are in a tower setting), for a more modern world and cooking one "healing life through camping" (also if youre okay with a fmc "cooking wizard" but its more romcom-y and no/little action)

This is one of those comics where Cale's intimate platonic relationships with other men makes me feel very warm and whole instead of making me yearn to ship. Not to say I mind the shipping -- Cale deserves to be a princess with a harem of people doting on him let's be real. I just find myself thoroughly enjoying his friendships and connections with those around him
SAME! All of his relationships are just so wholesome and platonic it makes me not want to ship him with anyone and I don’t even mind it.
Princess? It's a whole religion in the making
Caleisim hahaha (づ。◕‿‿◕。)づ
