This seems to be a mix of "I Met the Male Lead in Prison" and "How to Reject my Obsessive Ex-Husband", both stories have pink haired leading ladies who are smart and do all they can to protect themselves yet get put in near impossible situations that makes things very difficult for them especially with all the obsessive men in their lives. So, needless to say, I'm enjoying this story so far. (๑•ㅂ•)و✧
I like the story overall and Vivi and Ahin were so cute together. However, I wish the conflicts that would pop up would be properly fleshed out. Other than Vivi's struggle to turn human, all of the other obstacles the main characters faced was always solved quickly or even treated as a background issue. It just felt like this author wanted to focus mostly on the romance between our main couple but would add in these problems to make them more interesting only to not fully commit.
But, this story was still a good read and nearly all of the characters were great. So, I'm satisfied overall.
I hope this comes back soon, because it's a really good story.
I love how the FL is not someone who came back in time, or got transported into the story and knows everything, but is rather a girl who's been through trauma, but is using that experience to better her life and those around her.
I like how this story has not just used noble etiquette as a throw away skill that needs to be learned but rather highlights just how important it is and how it is the primary tool a princess can use to get ahead in life. It shows that even if you're powerless, if you have proper manners you can use that to get the resources you need.
I also enjoy how Alice, despite being young, is a multifaceted character too. She is fighting back against those who abandoned her and her mother and understands that she has to play a cruel game in order to protect herself. Not to mention the fact that she spouts out cheesy romance lines to Siana because she loves her for being by her side is hilarious.
The ML is a nice change of pace too. Him being the typical ruthless crown prince, but with an added twist of adoring cute things is fun to read about. It gives a good reason for why he was originally interested in the FL and makes him falling for her pretty believable.
Lastly, all of the side characters are well written too. Whether they're antagonists or allies, the author has taken the time to flesh them out pretty well. I absolutely love how despite the FL being the focus of the story, the other characters still feel like their own persons. Yes, the FL helps them with their problems, but they're still the ones making the changes needed and take care of themselves after she has to step away. So, it doesn't feel like everything is all about her, but rather like she's playing a small role in each of their lives.
This story all in all is wonderful and I really hope it continues to the end. (=・ω・=)
The way the FL treats this as a common transmigration villainess story, while everyone else looks at her like an eldritch horror story come to life is hilarious.
Especially because both are not wrong from their perspectives. FL treating everything like a story in some book makes her seem detached from those around her, which only fuels the feeling of her not being human. Add to the fact that she is someone possessing another's body, it just justifies their feeling of unease. The characters' reactions to the FL is a nice change of pace from the norm and it actually makes sense given that they're in a mideval setting where such beliefs were common.
I love these anthologies cause we don't have to wait over 100 chapters to see things get resolved, but I also hate how they're so short cause I usually want more.（/TДT)/
I wish there were more short stories that were five chapters or less that way I could enjoy more scenes from the characters without things dragging on.
I know what I get myself into with these cliche chinese manhuas, but this one had a nice little twist to it.
Not only is the og!FL a good person, but she still gets to have all the buffs that a protagonist in these types of stories usually gets. She's the legendary medical physician who has a million titles and connections that get exposed at the best time, yet because she's not OUR main character, we just see all this through our FL's eyes. Additionally, she gets to keep her love interest, so instead of one super OP couple, we get two. The og!leads and our leads.
I also like how our FL doesn't stick to the same trick. She doesn't believe that if she's nice to all those the og!villainess wronged, then they will like her. Rather she's nice to those who she wants to get close to, then uses a colder approach to those she just wants to help, but doesn't need them for anything, which shows her adaptability.
The only thing I would actually complain about with this story is the ML. I know they usually fall quickly for the lead, but he had absolutely no reason to like her right away and I wish we had a better foundation for our couple. But I can overlook it enough to keep reading.
This is so unique in the way this cliche storyline is handled. I love how we can see things from the original protagonist's pov and our protagonist's pov to compare their perspectives.
Nahyun is such a fun FL because not only is she funny, but she's actually smart. She's playing this game well so it's not frustrating to see her act like a goody-two-shoes, since we immediately get to see her real thoughts. I also like how she's not all knowing but is just doing her best with the benefits she has.
Yuhan not noticing the extra work Nahyun puts in to make things go smoothly is so like a guy trying to take over in a power fantasy story. His inner monologues and cringey moments are so funny to see and it makes me surprised that so many people seem to dislike him. Yeah, he's a bit of a jerk, but since our FL knows how to handle him, I just find it all hilarious rather than annoying.
I also love the added bonus of being able to see readers comments on scenes with our FL. Us readers get to read Nahyun's story and react, while they are reading Yuhan's story and reacting. It's fun and lets us see how the story looks from a different pov. Even better is that even though she can try to appeal to them, she doesn't always get it right because after all, you can't please everyone and you never know how people will react to your character.
Lastly, I like how friendly the characters are. I don't usually read male centered harem stories and the few that I did was way back before I even realized what the genre was, but I remember that usually the girls are catty to one another while trying to get the guy, so to see them all so supportive and even getting on the male protagonist's case for taking things too far is nice.
I'm really excited for the development of this story. (≧∀≦)
This is just an OP badass FL revenge story, but if you're in the mood for a light read, this is perfect. With the only downsides being the translation being a bit rough and art inconsistent at times.
The FL has the usual bad first life and goes back to take revenge on all those who hurt her and she starts right away. She doesn't wait 20 chapters before she does anything, rather she takes action immediately, which is something I like. If you disrespect her, she's going to snap back and make you regret it. And even better, when it comes to those who made her suffer for a long time, she makes sure their just desserts are as agonizing as her's was, rather than just killing them and that being it.
As for the ML, he's cold at first, but the nice thing is that the FL doesn't stay silent when he's dismissive of her and instead challenges him to his face and is confident in herself, which is what draws him to her. It's the fact that she's competent, beautiful, and grows to care for him, that he falls hopelessly in love and it doesn't feel rushed at all.
I also appreciate that not every woman in the story is an enemy, because that's usually what one sees in these types of stories, but no. The FL does have several females friends who aren't just servants and they have their own opportunities to shine here and there.
The only thing that actually annoyed me about the story is that it did the whole black hair=bad, while blonde hair=good shtick that's just so played out. I get it's an easy thing to do, but I always roll my eyes when they praise blonde/white hair like it's the most glorious thing on the planet.
Other than that, this story has been fun with the FL stepping on others, the ML having unwavering support for her, and one added bonus is that the story shows glimpses of the first life to show how the FL's actions have changed things for the better, which is something I don't see often.
I really like the direction this story took.
Philomel is not a transmigrator, reincarnator, nor has she regressed, and the author portrays that well. Rather than already having an adult mindset and being able to understand those around her, she's a child who saw what her future could become and decided to force herself to let go of her true feelings and try to be an idolized version of herself. She never thought that the praise and kind gestures that were shown to her belonged to her for 2 reasons. One being she's not the real princess and the other being she's not even acting like her real self. This makes her not being able to trust others around her so understandable because no one even knows who the real her is.
I also appreciate how the men around her are understanding of her difficulties to trust them. The emperor practically hated her in her childhood and only came around when she went out of her way for him, so she doubts his love. Her real dad was out of the picture her whole life and doesn't even understand family bonds, and her fiancé is someone she thought would never love her and thus kept him at a distance. They all came to realize these things and rather than try to force their feelings onto her have agreed to let their relationships be whatever she defines them, which is something a lot of authors do not allow.
Lastly, I like how the main antagonist is being handled cause it reminds me of "The One Within the Villainess." This story doesn't gloss over the difficulties a lot of these characters have faced and the whole point is to not just treat them like they're in some story where they have no thoughts or feelings outside of the MC, but to rather treat them as actual people who you need to build a connection with. And not just by using the knowledge you already had before you ended up in that world, but rather by talking to them. I was so happy when FL decided to get to know one of the capture targets on his terms, rather than trying to use the knowledge she gained from the book to connect with him.
It's little details like that that gives this story a refreshing feeling. So, I hope this all wraps up nicely, cause if so, it will make this one of the best stories out in this genre.
Can't believe so many people in the comments are either hating on the FL, ML, or the story itself, when this has been a great read for me personally.
I'm actually happy that this story is taking trauma more seriously than others of its kind cause usually the FL gets over all of the suffering and torture she had to endure her entire first life way too quickly. FL was literally abused by everyone in her life for over 20 years and she's only been in her second life for a few months so OF COURSE she's not going to trust a soul because all that got her was more pain before. But, even with all that, she still is willing to take calculated risks with the ML rather than completely shutting him out and the story has shown that when she receives genuine kindness it causes her to waver, so she is developing, just slowly as a person with trauma would.
Would I like for her to be a bit more independent when it comes to dealing with her enemies? Sure, but I understand that she literally had nothing and no one on her side, so it's not realistic for her to go from the girl who even servants can beat to a literal queen without some steps in between. As the story progresses and she finds her footing, I'm sure she will be able to handle more situations herself, but I think she's doing the best she can with what little she has had.
As for the ML, I like how the author has chosen to write his feelings for the FL. He's not in love with her, from his POV, he just sees himself in her which is why he cares so much about what happens to her. In a way saving and protecting her is like doing it for himself, which makes sense because he too has been traumatized in his life. He doesn't think he loves her, nor is he confessing, he just wants to protect her for now, but hopefully as she grows to no longer need that protection, he can grow to see that his feelings are not as platonic as he thinks.
I also appreciate how the villains are actually competent and not just idiotic obstacles that anyone with half a brain could deal with. It makes the FL and ML's struggle feel more real and shows how amazing they are to be able to get out of sticky situations. Hope the writing stays consistent because this could turn into one of my favorites
I'm only 3 chapters in and will be continuing in hopes of it getting better and because the art is amazing, but my gosh the FL is not endearing herself to me at all.
She starts by explaining a rough outline of the story and how the character she's possessed is the worst villainess ever, so what does she do in order to try and escape her fate? Act like a villainess in hopes that her husband will divorce her, even though she just told us that no matter how many evil deeds the original character committed, her husband never reprimanded her. So why the heck would she think acting "evil" would do anything at all?
Next, she's trying to get a divorce and wants to live a happy life, but all that consist of is asking him repeatedly for a divorce. She hasn't stated any plan for when she does leave, given that Ophelia's family collapsed due to debt and as far as we know, there's no surviving members. And the cherry on top is, all we know about the FL is that she spent her first life in the hospital, so does she even have any job skills in order to try to support herself? With Ophelia's reputation would anyone bother to hire her? The whole situation is stupid cause rather than thinking of a plausible solution, she just jumped to getting a divorce and that's it.
I'm not gonna give up on this because it hasn't even been 10 chapters, but I hope she gets a bit smarter soon and is just still in shock about waking up in a new world.
Really enjoying this! I like how our FL is not a badass, nor a timid pushover. She's naturally kind and capable which draws others to her because she's not doing it with an ulterior motive. I also understand why she's denying her feelings because it's not just a matter of her and the ML liking each other, but him having to look out for his two young siblings and try to give them and the people of his territory a good life. And while yes, our FL is the best choice, from society's perspective she's not.
I also love how open the ML is with his thoughts and feelings. Whether he likes you or not, he will show you and doesn't care. He loves the FL and tries to take care of her as much as she will allow yet is holding back explaining the full scope of his feelings, again due to outside forces. However, he makes his trust and respect for her known to not only her, but others around him so that they will not treat her harshly, which is nice to see. He's gone through a lot in his life and like he told his friend, he deserves some happiness and if that with our FL then just let him be with the woman who loves him and his siblings.
Speaking of the kids are super adorable, and I love all their moments together! The fact that the artist often gives everyone matching outfits makes them look like a big happy family and I love it. The romance, plot, and childrearing are all balanced pretty well.
I just hope they get more allies outside of the duchy, in fact, it would be neat if other witches came and supported them and people from other kingdoms if the royal family and other nobles are going to keep trying to screw them over. It's a shame the princess had to play the bad guy and couldn't have been an unexpected ally, because she wanted the throne, but of well.
Over all this is a nice read with enough plot, romance, and fluff to keep me entertained.
I'm liking this so far! I was nervous about the FL not being able to control her mouth and making everyone around her hate her and we'd have to suffer through a lot of angst, but luckily that's not the case. Those who matter are seeing the true her and while her words are harsh, her actions are still kind.
This story comes with the good and the bad, but overall has been a fun read, so I'm not mad that I picked it up.
Good:
ML- he's so much to my taste it's insane. His princely personality with yandere tendencies is perfect, not to mention his unique appearance! Compared to the usual black/blond/white haired and red/blue/yellow eyed MLs, he's got wavy blue locks that just give him a precious look that makes me like him even more.
FL- she's funny and not overly cringy after the first few scenes. Also, her behavior makes sense, because unlike other protagonists, she was dropped into the story right at the beginning, so she didn't have time to come to terms with this being her new reality so her still treating everyone like game characters made sense. Also, her pushing her idol to the og!fl didn't bother me, cause she was just trying to save his life and help him become the king he spent his whole life training to be.
Side characters- I'm glad that the side characters are all basically a part of the team. og!fl isn't two-faced, og!ml isn't just a coldhearted character to everyone but the girl he likes, and the flirty third prince has a lot more depth than characters with his archetype are usually given, if they're not the ml.
Bad:
The ML doesn't really get to be involved in the main plot? He gets sidelined in the first adventure (understandably). But, in the next major arc he doesn't get to do anything meaningful. He tries and we get to see things from his pov so it's not that he's forgotten, but his actions just don't have as much of an impact as the other princes which is weird for an ML to be treated as such. The story is not over, and it seems like there might be one final arc, so hopefully he gets the chance to really shine. I love everything about him, so I hope the author gives him his big moment to prove why he's the ML.
The pacing in this story is crazy. They speed ran through the original plot, then quickly took out the big bad and it felt like more chapters should have been dedicated to the buildup so that the payoff would feel earned.
Also, the translation gets kinda confusing with the pronouns and even titles because at one point the FL was called princess, when she's not. Not to mention chapters around the late 50s and early 60s seemed to be a little mixed up (not too many so far, just 2 or 3).
But like stated before, the story is still a good read if you want something lighthearted, with pretty characters, overall good people, and a fanatic female lead. ٩(๑❛ᴗ❛๑)۶
Valere's life seems to be pretty sad with what the story is hinting at. I hope the whole family can get their happily ever after.
I know this whole first love thing isn't going to be a big issue (thank goodness, cause I hate those types of plot points), but I do think it's hypocritical for Tarkan to be so jealous of others around her, especially his own men, yet not at least tell her there was a girl who helped him out when he had no one and he wants to repay her or whatever it is.
Aristine has been open and honest with him about how she's felt about him having a past and she's done her best to respect him, yet he's keeping something that has been used against her twice now (his first love) and has not properly cleared the air. The only reason I'm not really upset about this whole thing is because this is all supposed to be resolved before outside forces can really blow everything up, plus the two have been so perfect together that I don't mind a little bit of conflict in the relationship. I just hope that after this misunderstanding they both stop holding back and just let their thoughts and feelings out.
