I barely finished reading this. The closer it got to the finale, the more boring it became.

If you came to read it for romance, you will be disappointed. If you came to read it for scheming and political intrigue, you will be disappointed. If you came to read it for interesting plot and characters, you will be disappointed.

If you came to read it just for the trope of reincarnation and ‘taking the male lead from the OG mc’ (which is so hard to fuck up), you will be disappointed.

This manhwa has so many problems and there are barely any positive things to say about it. There’s legit nothing good about this manhwa except for its gorgeous art style and hot characters.

The writing was so all over the place that I don’t even know where to begin, so I will try to start with its concept.

This is yet another manhwa that uses a ‘reincarnated into a book’ concept and does absolutely nothing with it. It’s only a tool to explain why the main character changes from villainess into this super smart, gentle yet manipulative person. However, the author truly took the most easy way and it came to bite them in the ass.

Kayena’s whole drive is to break free from her brother and get him on the throne despite how he treated her in the first life. Until he murders her babysitter that she has not met since she was a child in her first life. That’s when the author decided to deepen her character to show her struggles, how lonely she is, changes her motives… And it would’ve worked if it wasn’t a fucking reincarnation manhwa.

MC mentioned that in her second life her mom was a baker and she has no bad memories about that life. So where tf this whole agony over “everyone leaves me” coming from. The fact that she had a second life makes all of the current plot make no sense. I mean, author could’ve said that her second life was also miserable and how she had no one there either, but instead author tries their best to just make reader forget that she didn’t just transmigrated back in time, but had a second life and that this world is a book. Author did absolutely nothing with this idea and trope. Why even mention that she had a second life if it’s not relevant at all. It only fucks with the character, because she does not make any sense.

Don’t get me started on the characters. 99% of side characters’ personalities revolve around MC. And fuck most of the characters exist just to fucking exist. Wtf was up with the duke (white haired one, not ML)? Started writing him as this massive villain (who is obsessed with MC, of course) only to become completely irrelevant.

Talking about irrelevant: most of the characters in this manhwa. OG MC? Just there. Other servants that were getting built up for something more? Just there. Her little brother? Just there (they interacted TWICE in the whole manhwa and he is already willing to do anything for her). That blonde lady in waiting who was a sister to a guy who tried to become a minister? Why did she even exist. Why was she hired? She was just there and then disappeared.

Fuck. I just remembered the whole magician arc and why did that exist??? She goes to a magician (who ends up being obsessed with her), gets powers THAT SHE BASICALLY DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WITH (all the things she did with her powers could’ve been done without them omg), introduced another villain (who becomes obsessed with her) that appeared twice and then immediately got locked up. All of this useless plot existed only to introduce angst of MC dying soon. But then the magician, that fell for her, sacrifices himself to give her a happy ending. How convenient. And fucking useless. Why the fuck did it even exist??? Why even introduce the brother????????? Why?????????

Romance in this manhwa is also ass. Male lead’s whole personality is just loving MC. He barely even appears, and when he does - MC pushes him away or avoids him. He is barely present or relevant. He legit is just THERE to exist. He barely helps her with anything, so when he is talking all big about protecting her and relying on him I was legit laughing. Like he is so useless. Just a pretty face to stare at. I, surprisingly, liked the brother (as a character, not romantic interest) and his dynamic with MC more than the male lead.

The whole plot with Regef is also stupid. They never explained why he was so cold to MC in their first life when the plot drives the point how codependent they both are with each other. They mentioned a ‘misunderstanding’ that drove them apart but what the fuck was the misunderstanding’???? Her falling for the duke while her brother was imprisoned? Him bringing her the head of his friend (or was it just a dream I don’t fucking know)???

God, this manhwa was just bad. I can keep going, but I don’t want to waste any more of my energy on this manhwa. It started interesting, but it’s just truly a nothing burger.

The only character that was interesting was Regef, but he has the misfortune of being in a hands of an author who just can’t write. It truly did not sit right with me how he is treated in the story. He is a victim of extreme child neglect and abuse. Doesn’t absolve him from all the shitty things he did, but Kayena (who was a villainess) gets to have a redemption, but he doesn’t? The fact that she sides with her father to take down Regef felt disgusting to me (spelling it out to some people: I’m criticising author’s choice to write it like this, not character’s decisions). They are both children of abuse, so instead of coming together to take down this bastard, author pins Kayena and their abuser against the biggest victim of it all. And in the end, Regef still protected her from the king, while she was none the wiser that he was planning on getting rid of her later.

I legit can’t hate him. He is the only interesting and the most consistent character of this whole manhwa. Except for the first life when he married her off, which makes NO sense and author did not even explain properly why this guy, who loves his sister so much, treated her so poorly when it is shown at the end that he would do anything to keep his sister safe. But I can’t hate him for this because that’s just author not able to write properly.

The whole manhwa felt like that one Moon Knight meme saying “random bullshit, go!”. Because most of the manhwa was literally just random bullshit to try make the plot interesting/adding tropes but failing miserably.

Most of the time reading this manhwa I kept asking myself “what the fuck is the point of this?” and the answer is almost always “there’s literally no point”.

Never trust ratings on this website. How the fuck is this 9.3 stars???

Grown ass woman gets reincarnated into a body of a 10 year old girl and meets ML, who is also a child. Already weird dynamic, but there could be ways around it to not make it weird! Separate them! Make them grow up separately! At the very least, make it so MC’s memories are so fragmented so that she stays as an actual child!!

But no. Author really decides to dig their own grave and make MC fall for ML when they are 13 years old!!!! What the fuck!!!! Reminding you, that’s a grown ass woman in a body of 13 year old girl falling for 13 year old boy!!!

AND THEN when they are 15, MC can’t stop describing how handsome he is, his lips and other things about him that she loves. Girl, kys. Disappear. Walk off a cliff.

I’m also uncomfortable with the way author is really trying to highlight the fact that ML is so mature and so smart beyond his age, obviously trying to make the dynamic less weird and ‘put them on equal footing’. Just no. No. Fucking starting a successful business at 10 years old? Running household and finances at 10 years old?

I have nothing nice to say to the author or people defending this type of trope.

MC reincarnated into a body of a villainess and became something even worse.

That really annoyed me too. Honestly I just chalked it up to meh translation & interpreted as she mentally was 10 but just recalled the memories of her past life, like a lot of other stories out there.

I would love to think that it was just a mistranslation but there are multiple moments where she makes it obvious that she is a grown woman in a body of a child. For example, when she was 10 and her mother in law asked her to make a schedule for workers. She did that but then said “well I would need help from you guys” and then inner thought said “she still needs to pretend that she is a 10 year old child”. Or when ML would say “why do you act like I’m a child even though you are just one year older than me”.

There are no way out of pedophilia allegations.

I like the idea of this story and it kept me on the edge of my seat, not knowing what would happen next. However, even after finishing it, I felt a sour taste in my mouth…

Romance was unsatisfying, because Edith didn’t have a backbone to stand on business. She had some of it in the beginning, but then it would immediately not matter because she couldn’t stay mad at ML and let him walk over her. Why even say something “I won’t forgive this” only to never bring it up again? He got forgiven very easily and romance itself felt shallow.

The way ML fell in love also felt shallow and purely sexual. MC definitely didn’t fall for his personality and fell for his looks. He was lusting over her and started showing romantic interest only after sleeping with her.

I would’ve loved to see more of his love towards her, hence why there should’ve been a chase arc for him to repent for his awful past actions, but it all got swept under the whole “he was under rules of the novel” thing. It’s not satisfying for me. I remember when I was reading I could only whisper things like “die die die die die” when he was on screen. So when he didn’t even get consequences for his actions towards MC, I was left empty and didn’t care about him that much.

It felt like author was writing MC perfect on purpose where everyone else had a fault about them and readers could get mad at, but never the MC. She is written too perfect and good. And maybe that’s why author didn’t write that she held a grudge against anyone, which was actually frustrating for me.

Other characters (not every side character) were also shallow af. No personality besides their roles. A villain is a villain just because. It’s not interesting. The characters that could be interesting have no ‘screen’ time in the manhwa.

sleepyhead April 23, 2026 5:31 pm

I’ve been promised that this is a manhwa with cool and powerful MC, but it isn’t. It’s cringe and boring as fuck.

This manhwa has so many problems. First of all, the main character. She is all over the place. Author is trying to build her up as this cool, smart, beautiful but vengeful badass woman, but instead made her look like a cringe edgelord teenage girl. You can’t create a persona of a cool vengeful when she has all the power in the kingdom only to be obsessed with revenge on some random baron who doesn’t have the status, power and connections that she has. Seeing her being so obsessed with ruining his life after he cheated, while she already has all the power is pathetic.

It would’ve been much better if she was getting her revenge as a commoner with much less than him then at least it’s making it more interesting. But no, she instead decides to do some convoluted shit just to steal a position of heir from him. Are you shitting me? There are so many ways to fuck him over with her position without doing all that. And you want me to believe that she is smart? Girl.

Seeing MC being this angry over some baron guy who is dumb as fuck and being manipulated by a princess is not cool. This dude is already at the BOTTOM of aristocratic hierarchy. He is not smart, he is not manipulation master to pose a threat to MC. He is less than a dirt under her nail (with her position and status), but he makes a big deal out of ruining his life now. It’s not giving ‘girl boss getting her revenge’. It’s giving immature and blowing things out of proportion.

That leads me to another point: author is just all over the place. Starts with cheating plot and pretty serious with her father finding them. You would think that there would be an arc to show how these two interesting characters, who have a angsty dynamic going on that needs to be solved. She has a grudge in her father and mom for the whole misunderstanding thing. Her dad doesn’t show much emotions, which creates another misunderstanding between MC and him. MC thinks he doesn’t care about her much, while his ‘tough love’ approach is his way of showing love. But no, time skip, the whole dynamic is treated as a joke and author then keeps bouncing between plot points. And non of them are interesting.

So, my last point: it’s fucking boring. I read 50 chapters of a nothing burger. Literally eating straight buns and no substance in it. Instead of focusing on interesting parts in the beginning of the manhwa, the building stages of the plot, author just throws everything at the reader and, in the end, nothing sticks. Daughter and father relationship? Boring. The revenge plot? Boring. The whole thing with assassins? Boring. I know nothing about her mom and don’t care about her relationship with MC, because it’s just a background thing that exists. ML? Boring. He was interesting in the beginning with the whole mystery, but then author immediately showed all of her cards with him and he became boring af.

No build up for anything. Just a rapid conflict, action, immediate resolution and on to the next conflict. Most of the arcs serve no purpose but to show how cool MC is, catching scheming nobles who are even dumber than her.

The whole thing was a mess and a waste of my time. Save your time and read something better for the love of god.

If I had a nickel for every character that exclusively dated women before (and obv enjoyed it) and then started dating one (1) guy was called gay, I would be able to preorder the new Nintendo Switch 2.

I just don’t understand why authors are allergic to word ‘bisexual’. At this point, if I see someone just saying word ‘bisexual’ in manhwa (and manhuas/mangas) makes me want to stand up and applaud to the author. The story is also set in America, so I don’t get it.

“I didn’t know Luke was gay” WELL MAYBE YOU DIDNT KNOW BECAUSE HE IS NOT?????

    Simmering_Summer April 18, 2025 1:42 am

I agree with your statement but I also think it’s a nuanced discussion. For me in this particular case, it seemed like he was using “gay” as an umbrella term to label his sudden switch, which certain people tend to do. I also do believe it’s not out of the ordinary to use that terminology specifically when it comes to straight people viewing/labelling queer relationships. What’re the odds of a straight man knowing to use “queer” instead of “gay” when his best friend of a long time suddenly starts dating a guy you know. So could the author have used the correct terminology when his friend found out? Yes but we also don’t know how the MC would even label himself so bisexual could technically be wrong and wouldn’t be the “correct” terminology anyway. Idk food for thought ƪ(- 3 -)ʃ

But there’s definitely a need for more bisexual representation in this genre!!! Bisexual men do exist and it wouldn’t hinder the story when adding it in.

Didn’t know it was an umbrella term, I apologise. I’ve read that it wasn’t always like this and bisexuality was a separate umbrella (like lesbianism and gay were also separate things), so I’m just outdated ╥﹏╥

But I see your point. Just fyi, I wasn’t actually angry in my OG post. I always get jokingly mad at things and use caps, but that’s not an indicator that I am mad at the author. I’m not actually outraged that author used term ‘gay’ for a bisexual person. I just decided to use this case to express disappointment that authors never go beyond ‘gay’ and ‘lesbian’ terms.

So yeah. Need more bisexual representation.

    missing April 18, 2025 10:25 am

I think they are using gay as an umbrella term, cuz I have seen many lesbians call themselves gay. + Most people who are not very knowledgeable about the queer community doesn't know the difference between gay and bisexual ( Malcom is that guy)

sleepyhead April 16, 2025 10:16 pm

I don’t mind age gaps, but it depends on how old is the youngest in the relationship and nuances (for example, if the youngest is 25 but the oldest saw them grow up and then started dating when they were 25 - still weird). And my jaw was on the floor when I found out the age difference.

17 years is CRAZY. Especially when they started dating when MC was 21 and the ML was 38. That’s definitely a cradle robber right here. Like, sir, that’s a child.

(P.S. I don’t mean that if a person is 21 they are still considered a child. But for someone in their late thirties, young twenty year olds are seen as children. Like would you date a middle schooler when you are almost finishing high school? Would you date a high schooler when you just finished your bachelor degree? Exactly.)

I still can’t wrap my head around it. Twenty one… Twenty one!!!! Dating a man that’s almost in his forties!!!!! Twenty one!!!!!!!

And the fact that MC goes back in time is making it even more uncomfortable. Like I have no idea how ML will be able to fall in love with a child or (if they get together only in ten years) someone he saw grow up.

I’m very surprised that this has a rating above 9.0

Anyways, I dropped that because I’m too uncomfortable to continue reading and find out what happens later. I really love the whole concept, story and ML, but age gap is making it too weird to read and enjoy.

I *guess* when MC grows back to 21 he would technically be 31, so mentally age gap wouldn’t be that much, but still. It’s like simping over a loli that is ‘actually thousands of years old’.

sleepyhead April 17, 2025 2:59 am

(This is all my personal opinion.)

Romance in this manhwa was unsatisfying. It happened out of nowhere that it took me by surprise. Daiki (ML) mentioned that Minjun (MC) gets in his nerves once and BAM - they are already making out and jerking each other. What. It was really unsatisfying. ESPECIALLY when Daiki was acting like an absolute asshole to Minjun, saying that he only likes having sex with him and doesn’t love him. It obviously upset MC a lot, so I was waiting and craving the moment for Daiki to regret saying it when MC grows slightly distant and maybe a potential rival could set ML’s head straight. But no. Out of nowhere he says he loves him and they reconcile? Absolutely pissed me off. Daiki was getting off the hook so easily.

There were so many moments where I felt I’m getting edged and then severely disappointed. The scenes where MC got hurt, the romance, the potential regret and redemption of ML (let’s not forget that he kidnapped, threatened, assaulted and was disgusted by MC in the beginning), but nooooooo.

While I’m on the subject, I absolutely hated ML (Daiki) in the first season then I grew to tolerate him in second. I get why he acted the way he did, but I hated the execution. He was (and still is) an ass with MC. In first season he was a cold prick with nothing good to be said about him. In the second, he somewhat shows that he cares about MC, but it feels shallow. Especially when they have sex. I got really sad when MC once said that it hurt during sex, which is nothing surprising, because ML just shoves it in without prep or anything. Just lube and nothing else. He doesn’t even wear condom!!! I also never once saw him taking care of MC. Not after sex or hospital. The only time he ‘took care’ of MC was to press ice on his back, but then went straight to fucking him after. Like, sir, is he your lover or a fucktoy?

MC stand the fuck up!!! Have some self respect!!!!

Of course I didn’t expect Daiki to become a simp or a soft cutie after falling in love. Not realistic and I get that. However, the least author could do is to expend on their relationship, because it’s shallow af. When Minjun said that he loves Toma more than Daiki - I 100% believed that. And it really shouldn’t be like this.

The other thing that annoyed me was the same face syndrome. There are so many characters with same face that I was so lost in the second season when more characters came. Author did an awful job at presenting characters. They just throw names and then their personal life out of nowhere, confusing tf out of me. I don’t want to sit through the manhwa with a notepad to write down everything to understand who is who. And don’t get me started on characters that were introduced (e.g. the English teacher in the beginning) that just disappeared.

I also hated how everyone treated MC. Comedy is comedy, but constantly calling MC dumb started to annoy me. The guy was a nursing student that got accepted into the top university in foreign country and became fluent in their language. Yes, sometimes he says dumb stuff (very rarely), but mostly he is doing an amazing job at raising the kid. MC is definitely not dumb, so calling him that was just out of pocket most of the time. Also, why tf is everyone so disrespectful towards MC? I get friendly banter, but most of the time it was just straight disrespect towards a lover of their boss and ‘mother’ of the kid they adore. And again, why tf ML allows this?? Never once did I hear him tell his men like ‘watch your mouth’ or ‘treat Minjun with respect’. The only time he showed his dissatisfaction was when his men were too close to his lover. Basically he only cares if Minjun sleeps with someone else but not how he is treated. Got it.

I get that it’s comedy, but even comedy can go too far. I would get it if MC wasn’t MC and was instead a side character. But he isn’t. So it was annoying.

Of course there are good moments in this manhwa. It’s just FOR ME I couldn’t overlook these things. And when there are so many annoying things, it was hard to enjoy the story. If it was just the problem with ML, but MC was getting treated with respect most of the time and there weren’t this many characters on the front - I wouldn’t have a problem with ML. You know what I mean? One problem is easy to overlook, but when there are many - it’s much easier to get stuck on them.

I love the novel so fucking much. Author of the novel wrote such a beautiful heart wrenching and heartwarming story that it will sit with me for a while. Their writing style is also amazing, so that was another twist of a knife on top of the angst. Damn, half of my quote list got filled up by this novel.

However… the art style is doing my babies dirty. Both of them are described as handsome/good-looking. ML kinda looks good and attractive manhwa, but my baby MC looks like an average guy, when he is described like this in the novel:

“…He was good-looking. A bit too much so. If he’d had an average, forgettable face, his name wouldn’t have come up nearly as often.”

That, on top of being noticeably built (special training and enhancements). Don’t do my baby dirty!!! It feels like artist didn’t read the whole novel, because the novel is in first person perspective and Geonho has a really low self-esteem, so he doesn’t see himself as attractive. He even mentions a few times how ‘unattractive’ and ‘average-looking’ he is compared to others, but he is unreliable narrator. When it’s other people’s perspective, they always mention how beautiful and good-looking he is.

No offence to the artist. I’m glad that the story is getting recognised and adapted, but I just want the best of the best for my baby Geonho and this amazing story ╥﹏╥

The whole pregnancy trope is pissing me off right now. Dude just started uni and wants to have kids? Without research or anything? Without any plan or understanding the consequences??

MC is so immature and not emotionally stable to have a kid. Even the way he talks about kids is just him trying to fill the hole. He is not actually treating this seriously. And as someone who is heavily involved with kids, MC is just having a baby fever and throwing a tantrum over it. He didn’t talk to the friend’s sister about her experience with kids, doesn’t know how it will alter his body, doesn’t research anything and doesn’t think about the future at all. Like does he expect to have a baby and immediately go back to studying in uni? Does he want to drop out of uni that he tried so hard to get into and get good grades after just one year? Does he even realise that he will most likely take care of the baby alone, because ML has a company to run? Does he plan just to have a baby, hire a nanny and put all the responsibility of raising a kid on others? Pissing me off…

I agree with ML on all of the points. Even the way he handled the whole situation is very mature (but he should’ve stood his ground and sit down to talk about plans for having a baby. not just cave to the immature kid). But MC’s reaction to ML not wanting to have kids YET was enough to see that this boy is not ready. And HIDING the birth control???? Boy….

Also it just reads as a straight up propaganda lmao. It just reads as “kids are the greatest happiness so go and settle down, while also throwing away your plans for the future! think about now!”.
