Kinks only exist within the boundary of consent. Without it, it is SA, plain and simple. No matter how casual their relationship, it does not decrease the threshold for consent.

While yes I do agree with you, thats in real life while exploring it with real people. I think "exploration of kinks" here applies to the author and it's readers. Getting up in arms about this makes me think people would have a heart attack in the somno tag on Tumblr, where fantasy is not the same as irl practice.

What Ideum did falls under public indecency/obscenity. A crime against public order and community morals, not a violent crime against someone’s physical body. Equating window exhibitionism to be at the same level as actual r*pe is a severe false equivalency designed to inflate Ideum’s guilt and downplay Jaeyi’s r*pe.

Even if you look at advocacy frameworks that categorize non-contact exhibitionism under the broad umbrella of sexual harm, there is still a massive legal, structural, and psychological divide between a non-contact offense and a physical, non consensual violation of a sleeping person's body. One does not excuse or balance out the other.

My “getting up in arms about this” is inherently due to the fact that what this chapter was communicating and how it was communicated did not align. It was depicting a shift in their relationship where the first person Ideum felt seen and respected by, is stripping away his autonomy. Yet the lens chosen by the author to do this was your cliche bl “hot non-con but it’s okay” smut. And it’s evident because half the comment section isn’t even getting the point of this chapter and are commenting “idc what yall say, this is hot”. It’s frustrating when the writing in this initially had me expecting something a lot more thoughtful and considered for such heavy and complex themes, rather than just a smut sell out.

I love how you explain it so well it's so frustrating that people here on mangago has been okay with "no consent" thing and that's actually crimeee broo. Also it's so frustrating that these people don't take criticism, people can comment whatever they want since its open section and it's okay if people feel disappointed too especially when they read this before that started as fun and it turns out like this.

ideum character also been criticized that time too, a lot of people are embarrassed of what he did some of them drop this story because of what he did so yeah both character experience the same.

From my perspective on latest comments people are trying to justify jaeyi action by bringing up what ideum did to him before.

sigh… I think I got blocked by the OP of the other thread as I can no longer reply, so I’ll reply to you hear because I think it’s worth continuing the conversation:

When it comes to Ideum’s exhibitionism, within the story, it is talked about, it is slandered and it serves its plot point. It holds the attention of a few characters for a while and is brought up across multiple chapters. Him doing the act itself, also fit neatly into his character writing. Thus giving not much reason to discuss/critique further in a comment section. In a way he had already paid his dues to the man most affected by it.

When it comes to Jaeyi’s transgression, it felt jarring coming from him. Especially given the special care he’s given Ideum up until this point. He also was not stated to have been anywhere near being a r*pist previously. When the r*pe happened, it got quickly buried under crowd pleaser smut. I get the reason for it being added in, this whole chapter was conveying the fact that person who Ideum felt like first saw him and respected him is now stripping away his autonomy. But what I don’t get is that this message gets communicated with what Jaeyi says to Ideum by the end of the chapter. Rendering the plot utility of the SA moot.

My main issue is with how bls tend to handle r*pe (more accurately, the lack of handling it at all) and instead use it for shock factor and to satisfy noncon enjoyers. My expectations for this bl were much higher than what was given in the most recent chapter. Frankly this bl is taking a near identical route for how it treats r*pe to many other bls. Moving forward it seems predictable that Ideum isnt even going to remember/focus on the fact he got SA’d by someone he trusted, and more focused on the words that came out of his mouth after sex.

My main criticism (not of you really bc I think we agree more than we disagree) is at really one dimensional readers that have acted like this has been a green flag bl from the start and at most painting ideum as cringe. Like there have been themes of noncon from the start. I think theres a general attitude for the general population that bottoms cant be threatening/coercive/offenders/etc and I think that runs w the greater theme of associating the acts of receiving as "feminine" and I've seen a similar attitude in bdsm stories towards submissives and anyone really in a receiving role.

The thing is, I don't agree that Ideum got really slandered for his exhibitionism, what's more, he sees that Jaeyi shuts the window and curtains but he's so horny that he does it anyway hoping Jaeyi look, and after that, sure he hears some obviously unkind words on the roof, but ultimately he only gets rewarded for his behaviour because Jaeyi comes around to have sex with him, just like Ideum dreamed about. The story treats Ideum's exhibitionism as an "oopsie", so I don't see how can I take it seriously and be truly appalled at Jaeyi's actions...

I think in general we shouldn't expect from BL manhwas too much. I don't even watch k-dramas because I started watching one once and in the very first episode ML got harshly slapped by MC for nothing, and I was shocked... Idk maybe Koreans love to exaggerate everything for entertainment, I don't really understand it.
