I have reread this masterpiece so so many times and it never gets boring. The main couple is one of my fav couples ever and i love their progression and everything about them.
All the characters are so much fun, the youth vibe is refreshing and its just such a comfort read. I have to say that, for me, the second couple wasn’t as intriguing as the main couple, but they also had their moments!
the plot is great, the characters are great, but i‘m especially in love with the mc!!!
i think everyone who likes an angry, badass and harsh protagonist with a soft spot will enjoy this manhwa very much. i found myself always rooting for the mc and his development is really good.
can season 2 please come quickly??
honestly, I don’t really get why people are reacting so strongly to this new chapter It was pretty clear from the beginning that both protagonists were messed up in different ways. jiho has so many issues and traumas, like he’s never been a stable person, so it was obvious that their cute, wholesome phase wouldn’t last forever. and yoojoon has his own issues too. just look at how quickly he got attached to jiho, how he accepted every bad treatment without question, and how completely hollow he became after jiho left. they were both clearly mentally unstable teenagers.
given how he grew up, it honestly makes total sense that jiho would turn out like this as an adult. sure, things are moving a bit fast now, but I feel like that’s intentional and the author seems to want to throw us right into the middle of things and show us glimpses of where they are now.
i also really don’t like what’s going on between the girl’s brother and jiho (the brother gives me major creep vibes), but for now, it’s definitely not being romanticized or glorified. i think the author is making it very clear that what jiho is doing - letting himself get drugged, hooking up with random people - is unhealthy and concerning. it feels like he’s going through a serious low, which, again, is totally in character. he lost the one good thing in his life years ago and now he’s just numbing himself.
so yeah, to me this direction makes a lot of sense for the manhwa, and I’m honestly really curious and intrigued to see where it goes next!
I think it’s a shame how often (though not always) characters are reduced to simple “green flag” or “red flag” labels. With Guwon, we’re finally starting to get some real backstory, and the plot is finally thickening. It’s clear this story isn’t going to hand us every detail on a silver platter—it’s confusing and layered, and we probably won’t fully understand things until the end.
From the very beginning, it was obvious that Guwon wouldn’t be a typical or “normal” guy, this is the apocalypse, after all. Dark things were always going to be part of this town and the people in it. Maybe in the end we’ll find out he really is just a terrible person acting on his own accord. But right now, it’s pretty clear there’s so much more going on, both in the city and in Guwon’s role in all of it.
As long as he doesn’t cross certain lines towards the mc (like assault/rape), I find it genuinely compelling to see a character who’s morally ambiguous and seems to have many different sides. That complexity is what makes a story like this so engaging lol
idk if i‘m alone here but i kinda really like this twist lol. i mean it was clear that something had to happen or had to be revealed, we are still at the beginning of the story and jinwoo already caught feelings so smth just had to happen. and i have to say that i‘m very intrigued now! i‘m so curious as to what the ml really is - it’s clear he‘s not entirely human i mean look at him - and how their dynamic is going to change. i also won’t call him a red flag yet (for now lol) bcs i‘m happy that there will be nuances to his character. maybe we shouldn’t always see everything in green and red - characters have nuances and do bad and good things, that’s what makes the story interesting as long as he doesn’t become abusive or assaults jinwoo i‘m happy with darker twists and turns
i think reading this manhwa purely as a romance is wrong. it certainly has romantic plots but i think at the end of the day it’s drama and angst. i don’t think it’s supposed to be romantic right now, it’s supposed to make us feel enraged and frustrated because it’s that kind of story. i would actually love it if it gets a sad ending (even more if it’s only sad for the ml), that would be realistic. it’s a deeply traumatizing and sad and horrible story and i‘m curious how the plot will move along, and i hope the „romance“ does not hinder the mcs revenge plan. of course i also hate reading rape, so i hope now that it’s established that the ml is a terrible terrible person we can move on from these graphic depictions and continue with the drama plot. everyone keeps complaining that the plot seems to be repeating but i disagree, i think it was importing to show the mc feel kind of empathy for the ml, only then to realize that the ml doesn’t deserve his emotions.
But that's the thing tho.
Kwon was actively working towards putting trust, or at least ridding himself of his chronic habit of suspecting everyone around him, in Yeonjo 'cause of Yeonjo's words and actions. Yeah, he's killed people but tbh that's expected with nobles or government officials back then. Coups and traitors were a dime a dozen. Kwon did what he had to do even if it is irredeemable in the average person's eyes.
Even Yeonjo sympathized and agreed with his motives at one point, till those motives were implemented on his own family. He was fine with "cutting and burning" when it was people he didn't know or care for, but the moment it happened to his family suddenly it wasn't OK anymore. He's a victim but he's also a hypocrite.
And I think Yeonjo realized at one point that Kwon was like him, just a man forced to do what he had to to survive and that is why he became fearful. He got scared that his rage and hatred would begin to diminish if he allowed himself to learn more about Kwon. We see him try to wave the thoughts and feelings off multiple times and get antsy over trying to use the poison as soon as possible. Even there at the end he imagined forgoing his revenge and learning to forgive and love Kwon, but it quickly turned dark 'cause he can't bring himself to forget his father and brother.
They are both at fault to varying degrees in different areas. Yeonjo accuses Kwon of never trusting him since the beginning, but he also constantly lied and did things to lose said trust countless times. The only thing that even allowed Yeonjo to stay close to the man was the fact that Kwon initially thought there was nothing Yeonjo could do to hurt him AND that Kwon eventually came to want to trust Yeonjo.
I'm not excusing Kwon's ruthlessness at all, but Yeonjo should have never expected the man to go easy on him if plans went to shit. He's been playing with the emotions and patience of the most dangerous man in the country after all.
i think aarons and yujins dynamic is seriously so interesting! i’m very curious about both of their pasts and how they are connected. i like that both of them are far from perfect and have this kind of fucked up version of how to treat the person they like lol. the only thing i don’t really like is just how much smut there is and how it’s always going on for so many chapters. smut ofc is nothing bad but i really prefer their dynamic when talking and interacting with each other to their smut scenes. and now i‘m very curious what drama yujin‘s dad is going to start!

while i‘m as obsessed as ever with them and this chapter is very cute, i kinda wish they would finally talk properly
