bonus points if the seme is the very reserved type, and the uke initially has an unrequited crush on the seme’s friend or brother, and has sort of been waiting for his chance to sweep the uke off his feet. i live for the moment the uke realizes that the seme is a romantic option and then the second realization of just how deep that love goes !!
i know this is hyperspecific but i need this so bad. i’ve already read “why are you so kind to everyone except me” so something similar to that!
this is a list of sites used by this program for downloading webtoons. though they don’t all work it is usually checked regularly. the actual program itself is really useful for downloading offline versions of chapters!

trying to cope with hollanov repressing their feelings like dummies T^T
i love BL, but the way many eastern BL authors treat queer identity can get a bit exhausting. maybe it's realistic for men in these countries to not want to name their attraction and avoid it or cope by saying it's "just that person" they feel attraction to, but i'd really love to read something rn where they actually say the word "gay", don't have raging cognitive dissonance when it comes to their attraction and internalized homophonia that is *never* addressed or resolved, and talk seriously about their fears and struggles.
if you have any recs that deal seriously with heavy topics like struggling to come to terms with same-sex attraction, accepting your sexuality, and fear of coming out, etc. please send them my way!
i totally agree, but i don't actually read much western BL because i actually really like many other elements of eastern BL. they have very different vibes. but i do find eastern ones tend to fall into this trap more, and i think there's many reasons why that happens. in general, eastern societies are a lot more centered around conformity and privacy, and i think that comes through subconsiously BLs.
im not judging at all or saying that western rep is better - a huge problem i have with western rep for example is that, because it's become more mainstream, it's often becomes sanitized and puritan and i don't feel much connection to it or the characters. (in general, i also prefer illustrated rather than live action, which is why i tend to read a lot of webcomics.)
neither one is better or worse, they are just different and each, originating from different cultures, has different trends, tendencies, and issues. for now though, i just wanted to be directed to some BL that treat queer identity a bit more tangibly. that's all.
if there's a history of SA specifically and top finds out and get angry on the bottom's behalf and they heal together, even better. i've already read pearl boy! just looking for more with this trope!

I have 2 whole lists of traumatized MCs (with most of the traumas being SA), you can just skim through and look at the general ratings because a lot of them suck lol:

"you want to put this big, nasty thing inside me don't you?"
dom uke/sub seme, whimpering puppy top, top desperately humping the bottom's leg or rutting up against his foot, angry pathetic seme, that sort of thing
...then the seme eventually snaps and pounces and the uke gets absolutely wrecked
oh! even better if the uke used to be bullied/teased by the seme, or the seme was some popular kid while the uke was a loser! like real role-reversal type shit

just a couple things I’ve noticed in manga/manhwa, and i was wondering if someone with more cultural insight could shed some light on it
1. why do characters often seem to shower *before* sex? i guess it makes sense for the bottom, but often both top and bottom will shower before sex, then fuck and get all dirty, then shower AGAIN. i feel like this is so weird? what is the obsession with being clean before sex? i think it’s normal to just go at it without showering and maybe shower after if you feel gross? some people are even into sex specifically after someone has sweat or worked out (big thing in the gay community especially, which is why it’s so surprising in BL, tho ig some BL is written by people who don’t research the community well)
2. it seems like there is not much of a reduce/reuse/recycle mindset in these cultures, especially in korea? often times a character will talk about just throwing stuff away, even brand new clothing inside a package that they don’t want, and i really don’t why? it’s so wasteful. i also don’t think ive ever heard once about a character thrifting, and im wondering if thrift shops even exist in these countries or if they are just, like, not a thing at all?
just some stuff ive noticed reading BL! not judging the cultures, just genuinely curious if this is actually reflective of the real world or if it’s just some fiction tropes, and if there is a reason for it
I completely agree with your second statement but strongly disagree with your first lol. Personally, I find it disgusting when one wanna have sex without showering first. Who knows what kind of germs and odor you carried before meeting your partner. I guess It feels less sticky when u shower first. Kind of like exercising or going to the gym. It feels very different if u do it before and/or after.
1. For the showering part, I think it just coincide that they mostly have sex after coming home from work/school and it is usually during that time they shower because they just come from outside and it's dirty. Idk for Koreans but for Japanese they usually shower before going to work and before going to sleep because it makes you feel clean.
2. Thrifting does exist in these countries. Idk why they are not usually presented maybe because authors doesn't go thrifting?? From what I've read so far, some characters do thrift but they are not that heavily emphasized. Most of being are the discounted ones.
