I'm just sad for Kaveri. He wanted Khaol to learn to live without him but at that point I think Khaol should just... Either try to atone for what he's done and forgive himself while cherishing those memories, or die trying and finally be reunited with him. These are the only valid options I see for them.
Also I don't think he's trying to win River back. He's trying to protect him. I think it's rather selfless, and that would make some great character development.
So this has been finished for almost a year. And there are no updates on the raws, so I'm guessing no Kwon Yuri season ? WHY HAVE SEASON 1 AND 1.5 IF YOU'RE NOT GONNA HAVE A SEASON 2. T__T
By the way, thank you so much to the team for the English version, we're all very grateful for your time and effort (and the translator's little comments, of course) !
I like Chase and Joel a bit better than the main couple and I like how the story's turning out. Also raising a teenager is terribly hard, and also also taking that into account I don't think Joel's such a bad father. He's not the brightest crayon in the box, sure, but Jesse is being harsh on him as well (he's a teen, and teens tend to act like that but I still feel like pointing it out, not many mother-father/highschool son relationships go super duper smoothly). Unpopular opinions much, but that's how I feel.
She was over 20 and Joel was ~almost~ 17 when Jesse was born. That's why she doesn't tell Joel he has a kid, because he was still in high school. She just breaks up and leaves, then comes back when she is dying and Jesse is already 10. It's in earlier chapters.
Any adult who has sex with a minor is a pedo, whether they r a man or a woman.
If you're saying you want this taken down because you don't want mangago to disappear, I think you're worrying too much. The people in charge here probably want it taken down even less than any of us; and they're probably well aware of the consequences they might face, was any action taken against them. With all the commotion, they must know what's going by now and I'll trust their judgement.
As for the whole "I'll stop the English translation" from the author, I'm not even 100% sure they CAN do that. That they make money or not off it, Lezhin sure does, and we all know how close to their money Lezhin is.
Finally on another note, it's the same thing as downloading/streaming movies and music: people will keep on doing this, which is why policies like Line Webtoon's work way better. It's already free to use, they make money differently. This just makes me think of the artists trying to get their music off online platforms: it's undertstandable, but it's not working on the long term.
Lezhin has taken comics down from their website when the artist requested it before. Rather infamously, they removed The Origin of Love with barely a warning right after they had a promo for it. So it isn't impossible that the creator could request a removal of all English translations.
Paid systems like Lezhin's give all the creators a reliable wage, which LINE doesn't unless they make it big. There have been some major issues brought to light with Lezhin's management in regards to the treatment some creators, but overall I do think it's a better system, especially since they combine paid episodes with the option to read for free if you're patient. I do wish they had low prices like Tappytoon, but I'll live.
To say that you want to see the dad make him suffer and that he deserves hell and so on is a bit... Well. Let's say I was expecting a lot more to happen "intentionally" in these chapters for everyone to say he deserves to die. That Eunsung's father would think so is understandable. But we know more and have distance. It's not excusable, but explainable, yes.
-The first thing Minjae did was to have the other kids turn on him by spreading shitty rumors, which is harmful but quite common. He did it out of spite of seeing his suffering discarded, and out of jealousy. He thought they could get along, but in the end this world was off limits and he could just steal glances. This is childish, but he was a child. To what extent did he encourage the bullying afterwards? No idea.
-Then came the physical violence (coming from the other kids). We know that Minjae saw violence and abuse as "normal". To him, care and love were the exceptions. And if he considered violence normal for having lived in it for his whole life, then of course he wouldn't feel bad about Eunsung being hit and abused as well.
-Then we're at the murder part. As much as everything else was planned, I doubt he wanted to kill him. He even said that "he must have got it by now". The plan stopped after the beating up part. Was it horrible and should he have faced legal consequences? Definitely. But that doesn't make him a cold blood murderer. Intentional doesn't equal cold blooded, if it makes any sense. I find the dad's case to be way scarier, if anything. Whatever he has planned includes suffering, hasn't been done by a kid, and has been thoroughly planned.
... The more I dislike Haesoo's behavior. Or well, not per se. But I still want to slap him really hard in the face to wake him up. He's just walking in a terrible place of his own making. I'm not saying Jowoon didn't contribute to it, but I see waaay too many people putting it all on him to my liking, as if Haesoo's only wrong had been to stick around. I'd probably feel the same about the other characters were the focus on their thoughts, but it's not half as much.
In the end I don't see this story as a shipping thing, especially since I don't feel there's much suspense regarding that (alone or with Taekyung I think); but rather as a story about Haesoo's cynical, undecisive, brooding and bitter mind. Will he get better, that's the question I'm the most curious about.
I don't feel badly towards Haesoo about it but you're spot on about his tendencies and him being essentially stuck in place. I think even he is frustrated with himself. He realizes it with his dissatisfaction with his writing and career plus all the angst with Joowon. The question is where to go from here, stuck in the same old dynamic. Being someone new, Taku clearly offers an out. But is that really what he needs? Rather than whatever pairing is endgame (if there even is an endgame ship like that) a fundamental aspect of the story here is Haesoo's development (or regression) as a character. The relationships he gets into are just one aspect of that.

"Same glint of crazy in your eyes" and "yes, you'd do it again". Many nice parallels and understanding between Heil and Khaol there. I don't think the comic will take that road (it's too... happy to end badly), but I wonder how Heil would react in the exact same shoes. Uh.
I also really like Khaol as a character. He's well fleshed, unredemptive and yet feeling very guilty, very contradictory and complex. As a person, I absolutely wouldn't, and I wouldn't caution anything he does but as a character ? Goddamn interesting. Love it.
Yes, khaol character felt real and realistic and thats why my hatred for him is real as well. I love that he can make me feel that way, even though he is fictional.
