It was pretty good but cheong rim pissed me tf off. Like this wasn't an amazing story. The author could've definetly made it darker and took their time with the characters. Also, it's pretty evident that the author was desperate to end this manhwa. You could see their passion dissolve with the lack of proper plot, the interjecion of cliches, the loss of good art, etc. Not my fav, it's like a 2.5/5 stars
Okay so this story was nice at the start until the cliches started rolling in; the unnatural resolutions, MC having his movie moments way too frequently, and everybody gravitating towards MC who is really just a Mary Sue character. So bland, repetitive, and dull. And holy shit I got so pissed off when everything was resolved so quickly because MC gave some 3 line long speech about homosexuals or kindness and everybody was swept off their feet because of it... We gotta let these stories go bro. It's not even targeted for kids, seeing as the smut scenes are explicit and such, so it's just bad and shallow for the sake of being bad and shallow.
Okay so I've been traveling across the comment sections a lot but as much as I hate this story, I've been keeping up with it and I do want to say that this story had so much potential for something greater.
At this stage, this story stands as a work that entirely glorifies and romanticizes rape in the name of revenge that isn't properly explored. The psychological aftermaths are webbed through graphic illustrations of a man being brutalized to demonstrate Stockholm syndrome, which shows some effort from the author to sprinkle in some depth.
However, this story fails at being anything beyond revenge porn BECAUSE it refuses to educate and resorts to grotesque depictions of rape in manners that elicit, not disgust or discomfort from viewers, but instead a mix of lust and shock.
There is a lovely spot for development, that being the very ambiguous stance that viewers have for the characters. Jiwook and his internalized homophobia, and the theme of dangers of such is super interesting as it lead to Juyeon being brutally violated. And, Juyeon who seeks revenge against Jiwook who has lost his memories. That dynamic is very compelling because how can a resolution emerge from this? If such is even a possibility.
Anyhow, I'm super disappointed that this work has been formulated in such a shallow way. It would've been 10x better if it was treated as an actual story rather than a means of shock value and dopamine hit.
I still find the relationship between Horus and Seth really strange, like the whole underlying theme of incest, especially when Horus continuously refers to Seth as "uncle".. It makes shit so weird lmao, especially during the sexually intimate scenes but whatever ig? Aside from that, I love the art and the setting and how each character is so unique and multifaceted. It is quite difficult to full on hate them because they are all so complicit and oml I just can't. It's such a good story one of the best BLs I've read. I wish there was more drama tho but it's genuinely amazing
If its any help, id like to stress the detail mentioned in this series abt gods being their own independent beings unrelated by blood to anyone. Like even if a god is born out of another, they arent related. Relationships are valid in case of mortals and ra made a commentary about this as well when she stated its only our ennead siblings who defied norms and live/act like family members and no other god does that. Like theyre all physical manifestations of abstract things like love, wisdom, rage etc or elements of nature like sand water or earth so like the concept of being "family" doesnt really hold up once they ascend
Does make sense, and I did hear that in the manhwa's context, the gods don't align themselves with morals regarding incest and such. But, it feels like the author does deliberately interject the incest themes especially when Horus refers Seth as his uncle, solitarily in sexual scenes where it is abused lmao. Though, it's a minor thing but personally, I've been having challenges viewing their relationship as something beyond their filial ties thx for the explanation anyhow
I totallyyyy get uuuuu and it was unnerving at first for me too back when I started ennead but then after I started seeing them as physical forms of elements i was able to get past it. And about the uncle thing lmao I simply turn my brain off and like to pretend horus is being asian with his honorifics jshshshs. Hopefully we'll see him call seth more by his name than uncle in s3 esp if his past life memories come back.. its already started( i might be reading too much into this ) but when he tapped into the power of wadjet he had saw smth that suddenly made him drop the formal language he generally used with seth n called him by his name..if theories are right then he'd be the long lost younger brother n not nephew anymore

Does anybody know at what point this story takes a dark turn, and if it does? I'm on chapter 5 rn but I'm lowkey getting bored. I'm curious to know if it ever does get toxic and stuff
