I think you’re misunderstanding the whole friend confession situation, he didn’t just get upset, but he said something homophobic, which isn’t how you react to someone’s confession, even if you’ve never seen them that way.

I think you missed a part of the plot lol, Milena's ex-husband's sister was still alive, she was the villain in the side stories and she was a psychopath. That was why Milena stayed underground and kept her son and beloved far away from her because that psychopath promised to kill everyone she loved.
