must be because some scenes can get really frustrating sometimes, and for a lot of readers, the only way to vent that frustration is by leaving comments under the story—which then opens up the doors to other readers' opinions as well, this back and forth sometimes could even spark an argument between clashing perspectives.
personally, I think it's part of the experience, especially if it's a story that could get you 'that' invested emotionally and time-wise.
(but most of the time, it's just about questioning the well-being of the author idk)
I think this is the difference between consuming a story for entertainment and consuming a story for escapism. You are consuming it as entertainment and don't care that much as long as you're having fun, but some people are consuming it as escapism, they get very attached to characters and they want good plot and development because otherwise they are thrown back into reality and reality sucks. There are also people who sometimes want a fun ride and other times they are ready to isekai themselves into a story.
But if someone reads a p0rn without plot manga/manhwa and it's clear that it's PWP, but they still demand plot in the comments, that's weird and it's on them. It's like starting a horror story and expecting a high school romance.
