this feels so random, especially now that it's the season ending :') are you going to be rom-com, slice of life, or angsty thriller...it's definitely possible to balance all, but this comic feels like a rom-com that suddenly remembers its dark traumatic roots every 5 chapters or so. hopefully the plot picks up in season 2, bc i really like the characters!
the ending is a good reminder that things aren't all or nothing. i used to run and play soccer competitively, but i wasnt good enough to play for college, and i had multiple injuries. but i can still play pickup games casually with friends or go for a jog every once in a while ✿(◕▿◕)✿
one problem with comics where the "original plot" has gone haywire is that now there are no stakes. like there's some corruption in the church and in the guild, but the demon lord ended up being this lighthearted thing, which contrasts weirdly with the MC's dark childhood, child sacrifices, etc...
i swear whenever we read ian's monologues, he's a POS that grosses me out. but then we'll have a couple chapters of his big tits and pretty blue eyes and a single panel of mild blushing, and i get distracted. i am no better than a mannnnn.

i really love how both the MC and the ML cry. i'm sick of stoic MLs who just make a pained, wistful expression for a single panel after tragedy or heartbreak. i think there's a weird heteronormativity in a lot of BL, where one partner gets all the "soft" traits and the other gets "dominant" or stereotypically masculine traits. queer relationships are made binary. ofc real couples might have that, but i think it's annoyingly obvious in BL.
i think this is the first time someone kidnapped + shackled the love interest, and i lowkey thought they were valid for it XD choosing your mom's murderer and a corrupt, power-hungry lawyer with absolutely no remorse over you.....oof

this was really well-written, to the point that i enjoyed reading it despite the relationship tropes and sex scenes. i hate dub-con & manipulative controlling asshole MLs--i usually immediately drop, with veryyyy rare exceptions. this is one! when the characters start getting physical, there were a few scenes here and there that icked me out (especially after our MC gets hospitalized near the end), but for the most part, i felt like the ML pushed the MC but didn't go too far? and i also think what the ML said about calling out the MC for having feelings but resisting when bc of atonement was what the author had already implied. ofc "reasoning" doesn't matter for shit irl and a no is a no, but i was able to suspend some judgment since we had already established the ML was an asshole from the get-go. the sex scenes--with some exceptions--felt forceful in both dialogue and art. ie the author would have the ML pin the MC from behind, etc. that made them unenjoyable and not hot at all for me. there were a few tender moments that were nice...the ML had his moments of being mildly endearing despite being a pretty static character, but for the most part, i was reading this for the MC and the supporting side characters. loveeee them.
