its cute, but i really hate this trope i see in a lot of bl, where all women are evil. like allll women only see his wealth and not him? come on. at least here, he says both men and women he dated were like that, but his interest feels like the bl version of "not like other girls"

since some people seem confused? i'm summarizing the plot to the best of my memory, somewhat in the order it was revealed:
- our MC (ikeda) has light hair and light eyes and is the manager of a cafe
- love interest (rio) is a host with black hair and eyes who visits the cafe
- ikeda doesn't trust rio bc rio is a host and reminds him of *someone* from his past, but also he is clearly starting to get swayed by rio. especially how rio looks out for his friends and visits every morning despite clearly not being a morning person
- whenever ikeda drinks, he desperately looks for *someone* from his past
- this *someone* turns out to be sasaki, his high school friend and first love who humiliated ikeda publicly for confessing his feelings
- despite his trauma from the past, ikeda realizes rio is absolutely nothing like sasaki. ikeda falls for rio and confesses
- after dating, rio still has walls up. he helps others but never depends on others. now, we get his backstory: his parents were absent, so it was just him and his brother. his brother didn't cope with the stress well. he started drinking, smoking, and even sexually abused him. but bc he's the only family rio has left, rio can't let go of him.


hope that helped! it was some dark content that was very briefly visited or hinted at, so i'm glad that the author didn't draw it in explicit detail. but that might have made it a bit more confusing.

i love this. short and sweet. and i love the character designs--the hair and clothes, but especially the eyes!! so expressive and unique. it almost feels like they have entirely different art styles just for the eyes.

hey so about the ch12 quote "if the mountain won't come to muhammad, then muhammad must go to the mountain". despite what the ai overview claims, that this is a positive statement, i looked it up and it seems to be born from islamophobic sentiment. this isn't a common phrase in my country, but my understanding is that it was written by francis bacon to claim muhammad as a false prophet, i.e. one that couldn't summon a mountain. just wanted to leave a comment in case anyone else also hadn't heard of this saying, since it seems to be born out of a european brand of islamophobia and white christian supremacy.

i do really like this comic, esp that they're both strong in their own ways, and the mc really shines and saves himself instead of needing to be saved every time—plus there's several times where he saves the ml! it feels so equal and empowering. but the ending panel made me realize: is there a single female character in here? i really thought the sorcerer who cast the initial curse would be a woman. i don't really mind but would have been nice

ahhhh i love this. especially the art and the combined tarot cards! im not into tarot, but the concept of combining cards (ie the hero/luka's card is justice + star and lord thomas is death + devil) is new and super cool. and yea i love the art in the dream scenes, especially in the extras with the starry sky. just wowwwww. and i love that akira is a real bro instead of a secret second male lead. and i like that the author didnt force haruka to forgive his neglectful parents and suddenly be family again, like i see in a lot of manga. anddd that the ML has a loving family. i like all the tropes that get subverted, the characters are so cute, and the art is perfect!

ahhhh i was really hoping he wouldn't get trait changed + pregnant. i thought alpha x beta was more interesting and fun, plus i like the "found family" theme of the work. yeah you cant control pregnancy and accidents happen irl, but i feel like a lot of manhwa specifically that have a found family theme end up throwing in pregnancy/blood relationships into the mix. it gives me the feeling that the authors feel like a pregnancy is necessary for the relationship, or that a kid between them is necessary for it to be a family worth ending the series on.

i really thought there would be some bigger reason for that whole charade, like seeing how his fiance would treat a servant in private or wanting to be loved regardless of status. but at the moment, he's just stereotypical cold asshole duke of the north. literally only difference from the usual is that he bottoms, which doesn't outweigh his shit personality.

i reallyyyy want to see some romance i beg. i feel like there's 1 soft panel every couple chapters, like kazuya holding kuzuya's face in this most recent one (v7ch2)

i feel like theres a bunch of directions where this author could have taken this comic besides constant, repetitive torture porn...........though i dont know why i was hoping for something different. i guess i thought it would be used as a premise and clickbait but would change and do more once the setting and characters are established (as they have been for multiple arcs now).

agh i really hate the trope of MLs who are sweet to the MC but shitty to literally everyone else. especially when they're terrible to their employees, giving them unrealistic demands like build a tower in 2 weeks when you're supposed to be on holiday. it's not funny, just irritating. it doesn't show their devotion or love either, since it's other people's forced labor. isekai manhwa point out abusive, irrational capitalistic bosses in the real world and then make the ML exactly that character, but we're supposed to gush over it bc they're drawn as pretty bois? (╬￣皿￣)凸

very random, but i think one of the sweetest chani moments is a few chapters back, when the manager is saying something like "i have to be a manager so i dont end up with a job like working as a convenience store" and chani defends convenience store clerks like "what's wrong with that kinda job?" all annoyed :) i think it was the first sign that he likes seokjin
