just started this & I'm only on chapter 3. just had to share my gut feeling that maybe he is phantom and that’s why he’s saying there’s a “ ghost” in the mansion. maybe the guy wailing noise is the broker he is pretending to be. would be the peak set up to a classic enemies to lovers

I don’t mind stories like this. seeing her trying to adapt to certain feelings and circumstances feels very realistic and it packs a gut punch for sure. it’s Stockholm Syndrome & if it’s not your thing, this isn’t the story for you. if books like Haunting Adeline get to blow up all over TikTok and get a movie adaptation, I don’t see a problem with this

this was GOOD! perfect amount of built up & the fallout that makes it so painful that your heart begins to ache.

my only problem is that the entire 3rd act is incredibly fast paced and rushed. it doesn’t compare to the 1st or 2nd act alone. it felt disjointed.

for example. all that built up and she forgives him in a few chapters? she faked her DEATH to get away. the entirety of him getting captured, her killing the cousin.. idk. it felt like they were too “ back on track” right away.

& why have a story with problems such as a miscarriage to have it end in her having children that we never learn the names of. what happens after? how’d we get there? just a tad unsatisfying knowing nothing about the relationship you watched unfold. side stories would help complete this SO much. still worth a read and one of my favorites on this app so far.

I’ll start by prefacing this by saying I HAVE NOT FINISHED YET!!!!!!

but I can not for the love of me get why people ask for books with angst and tension and get made when things are… tense? when the characters have a toxic relationship? like I get everyone has their own levels of what they can come back from, but don’t go searching for things you don’t want the answers to. for example, you ask for a book with a morally grey male character and then act surprised when they’re not out here saving kittens.

maybe I’m the odd one out, but that’s what makes the “enemies to lovers” hit. they have to BE ENEMIES. NOT LIKE EACH OTHER!!! it’s part of the story. there wouldn’t be any angst without some sort of rift. just buckle up and enjoy the ride.

I took 3 days to binge this and holy shit. every 30 seconds everyone was going through the craziest shit a person possibly can experience. my heart strings hurt. I cried .. which I haven’t done over a manga in a very long time. I need to go watch grown ups or something to recover from the turmoil.

can someone tell me if they end up together? I know redemption is a whole debate with “dark romance” like this, but I want to know what his “groveling” looks like !!

this is GOOD!!! I didn’t have high expectations, but I was pleasantly surprised. pacing was a little slow during some parts, but the angst right now is exactly what every story needs. just waiting impatiently for them to get their happy ending!

why does the ml always make that weird face where eyes eyes are big & he’s looking down on whoever. I know maybe it’s me being picky, but I can’t stand it lol. the plot is also very repetitive.

does anyone else feel like the pacing of this is AMAZING up until the second chapter? I love the story, but I couldn’t help but feel like I was reading a new book after the first chapter. there were so many time jumps & moments where the story felt like filler. I wish they went a different direction & focused more on the main characters and their relationship. still a good story & the build up was great! so glad I gave it a try after months of it sitting on my tbr shelf ♡

I love this website but sometimes I struggle with feeling like the same story is being recycled non stop. tons of smut ( not that I mind) & no depth or plot. I’m glad I stumbled across this gem. perfect length, amazing story & perfect chemistry!!! so glad I read this (▰˘◡˘▰)
