I see a lot of people saying that the second(?) part of the story has lost its charm, but honestly it's the opposite for me. I think got better tbh. And one of the biggest reasons is because the 2nd part shows us how our main protagonists are all flawed and layered characters.
Even reirin, in all her mary sue-ness, has her own fair share of flaws. They show her hesitating, having doubts, and do a lot of questionable choices and actions. She has fears about her poor health, and we get to see her weariness of it too. A lot of the attitude and personality of hers we see stems from all that.
I think one of her biggest flaws is her lack of self-awareness of how her intense care and kindness might look like to others. Especially to someone like keigetsu. Same thing for her recklessness.
As for our keigetsu, i think she's on her way to have character development. This is one of those stories where you need to wait after all, so i hope people have more patience for what's to come.
Of course, she has a lot to account for. Although i can understand where she's coming from, her background and experiences does not justify some of the things she's done. And i think keigetsu being the nervous, petty, insecure wreck that she currently is, is pretty realistic even if she has sort of changed compared to what she was from the start of the story. Keigetsu has a lot of things to heal from after all. She needs to deal with that first if she wants to improve.
Although i do wish that the story will focus more on her too. Maybe we'll see that in the next volume!

I still like the way this story managed to portray an isekai-ed/transmigrated person suddenly appearing and taking over a character, and how the people around them can see the change in behavior.
A lot of times in other stories, a transmigration does, in a way, steal that character's life and change it for better or worse. Usually the former happens, but if that transmigrated person ends up having a happy ending inside the body of that character, i do end up thinking "but what about the original soul of that character"? Sometimes it kind of feels like they were robbed of having a nice life.
And we get to observe the isekai/transmigration system from the point of view of outsiders too! It's nice to see how outlandish it looks like from the perspective of people who have no idea what video games even are XD
Your comment convinced me to read! I really enjoy seeing fresh takes on worn out tropes , so it definitely sounds like my cup of tea. One of my main issues with isekai is the lack of acknowledgment of how freaky it is to be in a new body and how most authors brush over the long term effects of becoming a new person so it’s cool if this story actually looks at that
I do have to warn you that the isekai-ed character isn't the protagonist and appears way later into the story. So i apologize in advance in case i mislead you with my comment
This is so real. Whenever I read a story about the protagonist taking over someone's body who died or will die, it makes me sad how they will feel once they see their "body" is having a happy time with people they once wished to be happy with them.
Makes me want to write a story about someone taking over a body of someone who's destined to die.. but has sympathy to the og owner that they not only dodge red flags but also look for a way to get the og soul back while them getting out or something.
On that note, there r too many transmigrated MCs who aren't looking for the reason they got Isekaid in the first place,

No fr thats why I like it when theyre literally born in a new world instead bc its their own body vs them waking up in a body (there are a few where its actually their body but bc of things they forgot or been jumping in worlds that they assume it wasn't theirs) others which are more sad is when they wake up in a body and the og soul is gone for one reason or another or if they merge with the og soul. I prefer thinking that its just an alternate universe and its them nc imagining them stealing that life & body hurts but it weirdly upsets me when they have the need to tell their lover of their og world & how they woke up in that body. It feels like they're shifting the blame over to another innocent person and burdening them too. Idk maybe I'm weird that that bothers me just as much
