This story is fine I suppose but be warned it's like 95% heartache. Fluff is few and far between. Not worth it for ME but if you like a really sad dramatic love(?) story with a decent amount of character development and a short but somewhat happy ending this is for you I guess.

I'm still hurting for Cain though to be honest. That was pretty rough to read. I may or may not have sobbed..

Y'know what, the more I think about it the more I'm mourning the hours I spent on this story. The whole reincarnation arc felt kinda pointless and outta left field. Just kinda depressing

The reincarnation arc could have been its own story ngl... Cain is the epitome of wasted potential.

We see him feeling out of place and detached even in his family, having this manipulative strike to him while believing wholeheartedly that Jooin would approve of his actions. Everything points to him still stuck in his past life AND mentality, having the moral code of a wolf.

But author said yeah fuck that, why explore this aspect in detail when the classic formula of bad guy with a sob story is soo much more appreciated. It's tragic, really.

No really!! It felt like they were trying to verge two very different and unrelated stories to me.

I'd like it more if they had focused on Cain more than the other guy. And have the MC remember their past lives too. As it stands for all we know it could just be in his head. I feel like they didn't establish well enough whether they're really connected like that because all we have to go on is his word alone.

Why have this dramatic story about their souls being intertwined like that if they were gonna be no contact in the end anyway? I'd like it if they did end up together but have the MC help Cain become his own independent person as a team. Becoming better people for each other and themselves.

He just seemed better in every aspect and was more interesting! But to be fair I'm a sucker for a puppy seme.

You're onto something! It would have been interesting if Cain really was making up their past and actually had another motive, or was hallucinating. Also, Cain himself could serve as a metaphor for Jooin's self-love journey (the more he's with Cain, the clearer he sees thru Yahwi's BS) or mental health deterioration? Haha idk. Many times I feel like characters in stories represent parts of the MC.

I agree, but the problem is that authors whose focus is on creating superficial fiction for the masses will only put energy into moving the protagonist's progress forward, while treating side characters as tools, rather than people. One hetero story I can think of, where the codependent 2nd ML kinda becomes their own person at the end is Secret Alliance (peak story overall).

Based on how much more fleshed out Cain's backstory was, I think the writer was more fond of him than Yahwi, but again, anything to please the masses ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭ Btw fun fact, Yahwi is like a lovechild of A Guy Like You's (first story of author) ML and the villain, while the supernatural aspect seems to be a hyperfixation of theirs lol.

At first I got so frustrated with the MC for not communicating and saying a lot of "well I can't exactly bring this up" or "it's too embarrassing to talk about"

HOWEVER, a little thing called character development came in clutch and I'm not annoyed anymore! I'm just so used to bad character development that frankly I thought they'd stay the same. I'm so glad I was wrong. The story is great :)
