My conclusion now that the season is over, and after binge-reading it again, is that this isn't a love triangle story because I genuinely don't think Haeseong is still in love with Jiwon, at least not in the way he was back in university. If anything, it feels more like a toxic attachment. It seems like he finds comfort in Jiwon's familiar presence and in the grip and influence he still has over him, all while feeling dissatisfied with his own life.
As for Jiwon, I dont think he's in love Haeseong either, but Haeseong clearly still has a hold on him. His marriage announcement irked him and his painful first love obviously left him traumatized because, what do you mean you're in the middle of having sex and somehow your mind flashes back to Haeseong being a cold little bitch back in 1967? Please heal and embrace the new love brother.
Also, I take back what I said about him looking happy in the season finale because the vibe was gloomy as hell. Clinging to Jiwon and your past wont fix you. Go to therapy!
As usual, im about to scream into the void about spoilers, so bear with me
So basically, Hyeon's older brother, who lives in Australia, came home after Hyeon ghosted the entire family. He found Hyeon's terrible uni report and was ready to drag him back home because he's basically a bum with awful grades who only wastes electricity, so might as well just stay home lmao. He also revealed that the family spoiled Hyeon out of guilt since all their attention had been on sick older brother, which is why Hyeon turned into such a blunt reckless brat.
Meanwhile, Haseong sunbae had a call with his mom on the company rooftop, they talked about his marriage and he mentioned about how mom keep pushing him so i assume theres a marriage arrangement plot somewhere. Later he went to jiwon's desk and found New York transfer file there. He was happy and said mumbled about how jiwon is too soft (agreeing to his transfer proposal) and giving in to him thats why he cant stop being spoiled.
Back at Jiwon's apartment, Hyeon ran away from home and confessed he wanted to be with Jiwon and all, only for Jiwon to suddenly tell him not to come over anymore (he chose transfer over this potential blooming romance).
And thats a wrap for season 1.
I still cant believe this whole season only spans about a month plot-wise, like so many things happened, can't get over this super tight pacing even though i adore this book sorry. For next season i wish we can get personal growth on hyeon's part like a clingy hyeon but less bratty version because jiwon feels too sane and starting to look like his nanny in their non sexual panels. Hope they get their happy ever after ending because jiwon is such a closeted romantic softie like deep down my client just want to be loved sobs.
As for haeseong, after a glimpse of their past (in chapter 22 ) i just think he's a crazy bitch + im still confused about their past. Why was haeseong the one giving Jiwon the cold shoulder after their disasterious first time and why was Jiwon the one trying to make things work??? I thought it would be the other way around what. Hope they talk, have closure, and wrap this up next season. (And i hope haesong break his engagement like that lady deserves better like go work on you internalized homophobia and all that issue somewhere else)
Yeonghan already has their entire future planned out, all the way to a joint funeral at this point lmao. Day two, and he's already like "so i need to manage the finances for our future."
Poor childhood aside, he violated Nanjo's trust and boundaries, so Nanjo has every right to cut him off. People have been babying Mokyeon since before his sad backstory was revealed and acting like Nanjo's the villain. His only fault is being dumb as fuck for believing Sunhwa was the victim in that situation.
They both consented to their deal, sure, but lets not pretend Mokyeon wasnt doing way too much most of the time. I want them to be together too but Nanjo has every right to left him after that night.
So the first season ends next week with Chapter 24
This feels so fast and lowkey absurd, mostly because most BLs end their first season around Chapter 30 or so and the pacing of this story is also incredibly tight, one day can literally last 4–5 chapters, so they quite literally only met for the first time about three weeks ago. There was a small time skip of a few days in Chapter 23 since Jiwon was busy with work but still... wdym season finale already?!
Reread cnr mainly to see more of them as side characters, and the fact that their friendship turned out to be so warm, calm, and caring was truly a pleasant surprise. A glimpse of Yuuji in cnr, with his headband and basket, gave off the vibe of a cool jock sidekick, so him turning out to be a really soft and mellow boy was lovely like im so fond of this character i need him to find happiness.
Anyway its kinda funny that we havent seen a glimpse of Ao and Shingo, especially Ao. Author really said "focus on Yuuji and Kirito" and honestly im not mad at all
Sometimes the art is so so pretty you can overlook the plot or, in this case, the lack of a plot (well, yet)
Let me have another yap session here because none of my friends read this gem, unfortunately.
Finally, some good food in Chapter 23... Jiwon is finally starting to fall for him for real. Hyun has been down horrendously these past few chapters while Jiwon was as chill as a cucumber, so its nice to finally see some progress on his side.
Also, the big bro finally appeared! Icl i didnt expect him to be a baddie, especially with his hospital and illness backstory.
I dont even care about Philip, but I better not see another take like, "Why would he do that?", "so unfair of him to do that to Sahan," or "Hes selfish."
The man was chronically depressed, and he killed himself. He did that to himself, not to anyone else. Im sure he wasnt thinking, "Let me off myself so that Sahan guy will suffer even more muahaha," in his last moments.
Sure its unfortunate that things will probably go downhill for the people he left behind, and in this case, Sahan. But you cant really put the blame on him for "making Sahan guilty" because he didnt make that choice for him, just like you cant blame Sahan for staying in Korea.
A persons suicide isnt a deliberate act to punish or burden the people around them. The consequences are tragic, but thats not the same thing as intent.
I think todays chapter really cemented my issue with this manhwa — the pacing. The story itself is super fun, but the fact that everything apparently happened within, at most, two weeks is kinda ??? like slow down omg
Anyway college jiwon is so cute, the gap between his college and adult self keeping me up at night lmao. That's a whole different person.. senior you will pay for this, you better take a front seat and see how he moves on from you and falls for his lunatic neighbor with your own eyes
Glad people acknowledge that senior is a huge big pathetic coward instead of a hateful homophobic homosexual. Jiwon hyun is definitely going to be the end game, senior is here for extra spices and drama which i enjoy lmaoo like genuinely the reason why this book is so enjoyable is because the mix of cuteness (from hyun) and bitterness (from senior)
Despite being annoyed as hell by Haeseong, I’ve come to realize that his presence is the reason behind all this drama, and I find it somewhat exciting and fun. The main couple is so cute, but Haeseong’s addition, bringing anger and bitterness, makes the whole thing feel like a roller coaster.
This manwha makes you squeal one second and want to punch a wall the next moment its fun lmao
I also don't get this whole *don't let kiwoon knows that we're "betraying" by helping jaeha* nonsense. He cut jaeha off good for him great so whatever they do with jaeha is none of his business. They're moving like jaeha is a virus annoyed me ngl protect *fragile kiwoon from evil jaeha* should've stopped in s1 since jaeha himself already accepted kiwoon decision. That Blondie bf needs to dye idgaf if he did all that out of love hes doing too much
Jaeha will always be my son and it's fuck kiwoon bf forever and always
Hyun is so lucky he got himself a handsome, rich, easy going, good at sex, and affectionate neighbor (despite clearly keeping at arms length) because if it was other person they wouldve reported him to the landlord by now
Hi just so you know this user will for won jiwon. Thank you for your attention.
Aaand i need that glasses demon to suffer till the very last panel of this manhwa fuck other love interest or spin off this man deserves nothing (╯°Д °)╯╧╧
Still don't get the thing between his sister and masaki like are they platonic friends? Friends with benefit? does she like him? Is this going to be an issue between them later? And the biggest question of it all, how old is this guy
Just reread the entire thing because of latest chapter and hiatus and just realized that ep2 to first half of ep 6 happened in one day lmao. Second half of ep6 to first half of ep 9 happened the next day so basically as for now they know each other in less than a week and hyun already moved on after all those drama thats actually crazy if you deep it
I thought this was desperate move to milk more money but as things going it's just ?? Is everything good at home author lmao i mean If they want to milk money they are easier routes like just go all porngayslop instead of this 180° turn nobody asked for
