My personal "hot take" is the fact that rape is way to glorified in these bls like I'm exhausted, I wish there was like some kind of SA tag, even if we had that tag it would be considered romance, yes I call this a hot take because EVERY TIME I call it out I get dislikes from those who are probably into that shit, it's not even CNC it's straight up rape, a good example is Codename Anastasia, you can't even say that's for 'awareness' because it's quite literally erotically portrayed (two likes, two dislikes, exactly my point hating glorified rapeslop is a hot take apparently)

    kaiisgayy_ September 17, 2026 3:57 pm

agree with this a 100 percent. codename anastasia, jinx, roses and champagne & etc are so shit ngl. you could make a great story WITHOUT the rape (that doesnt even bring anything bro, if it gave some lore or smth else then fine) but nooo, most of the manhwas are being written and consmued by straight women who think its sexy when its two men. and at least 1 out of 3 manhwas I try to read are with rape, so we DEFINITELY need a hash tag for this

BISCUIT EATING BULLDOG September 17, 2026 3:58 pm

hot take, acknowledging sa in a story doesn't mean hating the story, you can still read the story, just acknowledge that what happened was sa/rape

    111 September 17, 2026 3:59 pm

You have a point, but also, we have to accept the fact, not everything is SA. Of course, I’t depends what manhwa we talking about and what scene and aspect, but some people saw hardcore or freaky stuff SA as well. We have to separate these things.

I think you missed my whole point, I said the GLORIFICATION OF THE RAPE, no one should be reading it if it's glorifying it like in jinx, if it's for awareness then of course but if it's erotically portrayed and you call a rape that was erotically portrayed 'AWARENESS' then you'd be wrong, awareness should not be erotically portrayed

I never said everything was SA, never said that in the slightest I don't know where you got your point from, CNC is fine because it's consensual non consent and if it's legal then technically it's fine but anything non consensual at all IS LITERALLY SA

A hashtag would be so helpful to have before reading something that looks wholesome or interesting but it'd also be helpful for people wanting to outright find rape to read and goon to

You also misread what I wanted to say, I didn’t said YOU said everything is SA, I said it like people need to know to tell these things apart.

Not sure if it's a hot take, but I'm genuinely tired of excessive smut in BLs that are not PWP. Some manhwas would have 80 chapters, 40 of which are just sex. I've seen it all, there's nothing in a sex scene that could make me go "wow, that surprised me". I'm bored, let's go back to the character interactions, the development, the romance. And I don't mind sex scenes, but I think that if you're writing a love story, there should be a time and place for them. I'm so over 3 chapters of plot and 5 of smut. It gets to a point where the protagonists don't know anything about one another and have barely had any bonding time where they talked or did nice things together/for each other, but we're supposed to buy that they're in love just because they're compatible in bed.

Hon, i didn't miss your point, glorifying and acknowledging is different. Glorifying is like saying rape is a kink or something, acknowledging it on the other is saying "oh shi that's sa/rape because he didn't consent". I should've elaborated more on my hot take I'm sorry. Let me rephrase it then, I'm not talking about jinx, passion, or ca, I'm talking about nice to see you. there was clearly sa happening but people are denying it instead of acknowledging it, now if you acknowledge it people will say don't read it or then stop reading it, what I mean is, I saw and understand that what happened was SA, but they're both freaks, they both sa'ed each other but never cared about it. It's different from Kim Dan where he showed obvious discomfort and distress. That's what I meant, sorry omg. I'll still read nice to see you again tho.

in the novel of codename Anastasia, it was never romanticised nor glorification of rape, in fact. It was so gory and disgusting cause it would go in depth of how bad it is. Thats why I was so annoyed but the adaptation of the manhwa, the way the angles, colours and expressions show more of it being 'tame' and almost 'romantic' at times when in the part of the novel, it was one of the most hardest parts for me to read at the time, it ruins the whole 'horror' aspect it had in the first part of the story. The second part of the story (called nameless star volumes 6-10) is more romantic, but had a shit ton of angst, so the romance barely lasted.

the story is so well written in the novel, it's just the manhwa wanting it to appeal to more people I guess? which is stupid but it's whatever

    Vaginatittysprinkles September 17, 2026 6:02 pm

These writers cant find a good hook for their stories LMAO also pmo when they put disclaimers saying they don't support it but write it anyway without considering how serious rape is and just uses it as a next step forward to the smut action of the story.

I read a Yaoi anthology and only 1 story wasn't rape all of it was literal rape

Makes good enough sense with the elaboration, without it it didn't make sense at all, if the author had no idea what they did to each other was SA then idk, most authors don't even know what write/draw is SA, could you lmk

This is unfortunately a hot take but I agree with you completely, respect for taste/swallow you whole and don't get me started on honey bear, i made a comment that I was a little bored of all the sheer sex that was going on and I got ATTACKED, I'm also really upset with the community as well, I started a bl with a really cool dynamic and I went to comments and all I saw was people commenting bs like, "I wanna see that guy get pounded and then be pounding I want the beefy guys to switch" (not satire) something like that like bro they barely talked in the first chapter I joked underneath that calling them out and I got attacked AGAIN

    Donewithyoshit September 17, 2026 7:57 pm

"FICTION ISNT REALITY GET OFF YOUR HIGH HORSE" I am politely sitting down and, as a connesior of morally ambigious porn, call bullshit. Fiction reflects reality. And reality reflects fiction. That rings true since the beginning of time.

There is a difference between them, but as long as people don't rape people irl. I guess Im good oh wait. They do already. Damn.

The worst part is it is hard to have discussion without being called a moral monger.

In a world of highly progressive ai, where you can take a picture of somepne irl, and use it as the ai icon, and simulate raping them....man.

    Am I concerned.

True. Unfortunately the overused "dont like dont read" gets thrown at you. If people are so annoyed by comments offering genuine critism, complaining, or hate-reading, why read the comments? I for one, and know this doesn't apply to all, have trouble putting a story down after starting. It has to be dog water to drop it. Usually my comments are like personal bookmarks. If I, or someone else, has criticism or complaints to a stort Im rage reading, why engage? Some will even argue with you to the ends of the earth that it isn't rape!

The best (WORST) I heard was "he came so he liked it" fucking shoot me.

One of the reasons I stay away from the comments. There's rarely something there that I agree with.

I like smut too, but I want it to be a bonus to the relationship rather than the entire relationship. If there's more sex than actual bonding, doing cute things together and getting to know each other, is that even a love story?

Authors and editors have realized what most readers want and need too. More and more manhwas seem to start with smut from the very first scene to catch their attention. I don't mind sex as the first scene, but it's obvious why it's there. It lowkey feels like that meme about people with short attention span who need to have a random gameplay on half the screen to pay attention to the other half. "Look, smut. Keep reading."

I think commenting about the bad things in a story like omg it has rape/sa or racism, warns other readers to not read it. So it's good to comment it! the last part omg! it's natural physical reaction, poor men, they can't even be considered sa'ed because they came. "Cuz they enjoy it they got hard blablabla" bye! I won't be dealing with that anymore
