Right, I feel like this is an appropriate point for my 2 (or 12 cents). I've seen loads of comments, especially since the chapter 175 about the cultist atmosphere and Condom's behaviour. As someone who has worked in the classical music industry for nearly 10 years, who has grown up around classical musicians and hung in and around professional orchestras (some of the best) I hate to say it but the author is bang on the money about the reality of this industry. I would love to say that they're exaggerating or embellishing but they aren't.
One of the reasons I love this manwha so much is because the author is very obviously knows and understands the world they are writing about. The relationships feel real and grounded because they are clearly drawing from not only a good understand on how actual humans behave, but more specifically how they behave in THIS environment.
The cliques of orchestra musicians and the rejection if you don't behave in a certain way, the abuse (verbal, physical and sexual) and the obsession around perfection are just a normal Tuesday.
One could ask oneself why on earth someone could chose to subject themselves to this environment ? The author gives us the answer through Heejay and Garam's CONNECTION (heart, body, mind and soul). I think that the thesis of this entire story is even though this environment is hostile and full of distorted individuals who will twist music to serve their own purpose like corrupted priests, the purity of human connection and love for music is what music and, in a larger sense life, is all about. It's a beacon of hope and a the reason classical music has survived for centuries. Art is a path from human to human as André Malraux so astutely noted. Artist to interpreter to Man to artist to interpreter to Man and round and back again over and over, inspiring, feeling and transforming.
That's why this story is so powerful especially today: in our world where everyone is surrounded by people while simultaneously feeling completely alone, music and art are our ultimate guide to connection.

But indeed, I think all the arts bring something so beautiful; depicting a lot of symbolisms and feelings and throughout all arts there is some sort of corruption, some evilness that you cannot escape. I was thinking about Ballet and probably could be the same you need to move, act, behave, weight, smile like the flock or bye bye … you can hate the system and love the system … we are complex human beings.
Okay, professional me back again and I have thoughts on Compton's tirade about his orchestra musicians. The comment about them being sheep is already bad enough on its own but it's even worse when you understand the culture that they are in.
Orchestra musicians that play in the best orchestras in the world (which is what Compton's orchestra is) are considered to be absolute rockstars in the classical music industry. They are considered to be the crème de la crème of their chosen instrument and are some of the most talented musicians in the world I their field. Sarah Wilis on French Horn at the Berlin Philharmonic, François Leleux the old oboeist from the Opéra de Paris Orchestra,
All of these musicians are some of the best in their own right. How on earth can a conductor say such disrespectful words about such talented people ! These are people who will have worked their entire lives and built their entire careers around being a member of this orchestra. It become your family, your team and a good conductor understands and knows how to draw out their vision for a piece. The orchestra is an instrument in it's right. Can you imagine if a violist or a clarinettist threw their instrument on the floor and somehow still expected it to play the same after ? Orchestra musicians whether they like each other are all united by their goal to make the best music that they can.
It's a weird trend but a lot of conductors tend to be pianists (the least communal instrument) and oftentimes lack the ability to understand an orchestra's communal spirit. Compton is no exception. He has other issues but my god is it obvious here.
It made me lose so much respect for him, even few chapters back he was so utterly disrespectful comparing other instruments to piano. Such foolish and uncalled for remarks by a 'supposed' conductor
shows how closed and narrow-minded he is. he tries to relate to them and feel as one as its shepherd but his selfish thoughts will always lay bare. him and heejae makes me think if all conductors irl are like this
