novel reader here, i’m so extremely confused. this scene just doesnt exist, and also doesnt make sense… the whole premise is that jooyoon doesnt remember things when he’s drunk and thats why jaekyung hates him? is jooyoon currently sober? what are they doing with this manhwa adaptation???
they seem to not have caught up with the translation since the original novel is completed. But maybe I just haven’t found a site that has all the chapters.

i dont understand how some ppl will read the first 40 chapters where you’re living in jun’s brain and witnessing the most unreliable narration of his fucked up moral compass and behaviour, will witness yohan’s bullying and violence and internalised homophobia, and expect this story to magically become wholesome after the way the last season ended. hello? have we been reading the same manhwa? this is an overly dramatised mentally ill teenager’s recount of an abusive relationship and mfs will be in this comment section like “i dont like how jun doesnt have a back bone! why doesnt he just stand up to his abuser!” baby, this isnt heesu in class 2.
This happens with every even slightly toxic BL manhwa. Mfs will click on the title that goes “my abusive lover locks me in a cage for 10 hours a day” with a cover where ML is straggling MC then they act all surprised there’s rape or violence and ML is an insufferable asshole and get mad that MC isn’t karate chopping his abuser’s nuts as revenge smh my head
all kids born after 1995 dont know how to read slowburn. all they know is charge they phone, eat hot chip, be bisexual and GOON
Kids of 2000 are 26 and most of them are alright. It's the late GenZs and gen Alphas who got handed everything over that are acting entitled. Some of y'all should not even be reading some of the explicit stuff you are reading, but nobody called you out for it. So appreciate the blood, sweat and tears of the thousands of people who give the opportunity to let you read these for free in a world where nothing is free

i read up to chapter 132~ of the novel, and now im even more pissed off because that club scene makes zero sense without context and idk why they decided to move it so early into the story.
so in the novel the story is alot more slowburn and enemies to friends to lovers type pacing. they do not confess to each other directly for a very long time. jooyoon has the habit of forgetting things when he’s drunk and jaekyung takes it as him pretending not to remember their sexual/romantic encounters. their whole romance is sort of based in their conflicting memories and personalities and mixed signals. because the 99% of the story is told from jooyoon’s perspective, we have to listen to him justify why his attraction to jaekyung isnt gay (internalised homophobia is a big theme in this story as well.) i need you to understand how much of an idiot jooyoon is before i explain this club scene, okay?
they go on a trip together following many, many very romantic “friendly hangouts” (jooyoon throws jaekyung a drinking party takes him and proposal ring shopping??) to jaekyung’s hometown. jaekyung has a bad relationship with his father so he gets really vulnerable and attaches himself to jooyoon alot during the trip. at this stage jooyoon believes jaekyung is a closeted bisexual and at one point, he teases him about them potentially dating (not knowing he is also whipped for him) jaekyung completely shuts down after this and decides to give up on jooyoon and his’ friendship.
he gets back at jooyoon by pretending to date sanna (brown-haired girl) and ghosting him on socials. during this period, jooyoon starts stalking jaekyung on socials with a burner account and pretty much yearns and goons (literally jerks off with a cast of jaekyung’s hand he made) putting himself in the cuckchair of jaekyungs social life. he sees jaekyung post alot of pictures of this guy name han jungwoo, who is also bisexual and just comforting to be around after he’s had the worst situationship of his life with his “straight” friend (#bisexualproblems).
anyway, throughout all this jooyoon’s bubble finally pops and he realises he is atleast sexually attracted to jaekyung, and eventually comes to accept his feelings for him. he gets extremely jealous and calls his sister to give him a makeover so he can pull up to jaekyung at the club and prove how much hotter he is than the other dude or whatever. that is when this whole club scene occurs.
i think genuinely the only reason they pulled it forward so much in the manhwa is because they wanted more frequent smut so engagement would be higher, but it really throws off the entire plot and romantic development. at this stage, it is extremely out of character for jooyoon to act this way.
i hope that clarifies any confusion anyone mightve had about the pacing of this story. read the novel! its really good if you like the concept of this story.
omg thanks for explaining, I was so confused on the club scene in the manhwa not only because it felt out of place but also very rushed, the scenes that followed after the club part didnt even helped that much on expounding that occured there
Thank you!!! This definitely made me feel relieved that there was supposed to be an actual plot. I was so confused when that happened and even clicked the chapters back and forth to make sure I didn't skip forward.
yes but in the novel the plot is a very, very frustrating slowburn. the type that makes u punch ur pillow. i like that sort of story though! the manhwa also misses a bunch of jooyoon’s internal monologue besides him hating jaekyung. he’s a genuinely weird guy besides him being an otaku, but they can only do so much with a visual format.
yeah idk if they wanted to bring it forward they couldve atleast made it make some sense in the plot… fair to feel confused because it was a very confusing choice!
where did you read the novel?
