The mother does seem like she cares about him because she seems to miss him, even though she doesn't directly say it. But instead of trying to understand him and being there for him when he was sick, she vents her own feelings toward him just so he knows how alone he made her feel. Her own feelings come first.
She doesn't care about the feelings of her son (who never had a normal life like other kids), so she guilt-trips him, saying, "You were always focused on just watching things... almost like you were in a completely different world. I was pretty lonely, you know." She wants to get close to him, but doesn't understand that her behavior toward him will only make him more detached from her. Was she ever a kind and caring figure toward her son? To the MC, she appears as a woman who never acted warmly toward him, even averting her eyes after seeing the injury on his chest.
Let's not ignore how she doesn't want to hear him talk and instead compares him to her friends' sons and daughters, saying, "I can't help but think having a stable office job is best, but you've never been the type to blend in with others. It's been the same since you were little," as if not being the same as them makes him inferior to others
Is it toxic? Does it have rape or abuse? is it a good story to read? Someone tell me please
It is toxic. Mc is an assassin and is hired to assassinate ml. However their relationship isn’t exactly toxic. Ml is interested, and mc is also curious as to what ml is about, with the added tension that he needs to stay on his good side to be able to assassinate him later. No abuse so far. Few scenes where it could be considered unconsensual, but it sort of glazed over that. Story is okay. Both the characters are funny, specifically the mc, but they’re also both weird and have their own motives. If you’re into tropes like possessive mafia bosses, hired killers, comedy intertwined with action, oddball mc and ml, straight mc turned gay, then you’d like it. If not, I wouldn’t waste your time reading it. Right now in the plot it’s a lot more complicated as they’re trying to set up their relationship. (At chapter thirty three I think… sigh.) it is interesting how you hardly get the pov from ml so you never really know what he’s thinking. Anyways it might be too early on to make decisions on if it’s a good read haha
(This is coming from someone who has not read the novel so idk where it’ll go from here!)
Basically, the MC pressured the ML to have sex with him during their first time (this is a first! Usually, it's the ML that does this shit in manhwas).
The ML is a rich, virgin dude who wants to have sex only with the person he marries, so he forces the MC to take responsibility after the MC runs away (this is a first! Usually, it's the MC that forces the ML to take responsibility).
The MC has trauma from his toxic exes, so he dumps the ML after seeing him with a girl (could be a cousin, sister, or friend), but it seems like he's way too quick with his assumptions to think logically.
The MC realizes he was wrong and they make up through sex again.
The manhwa ends after 6 chapters.
Pretty mid plot with mid characters, if you ask me. I would give it 3 stars. I would've rated it higher if it made me feel something. Kudos to the translater, their comments were pretty funny
I always wanted to read a story where the mc is the third wheel or the side character in their love interest's relationship so I'm happy to finally find a manhwa with this plot. I have searched far and wide for this sort of storyline but it's rare to find a good manhwa with a similar premise. The ones I've read previously were Japanese mangas with few chapters (4 or 5 chapters) or a straight manhwa with side character female lead. It's delightful to find one with many chapters and lots of depth. I love the pain and sadness I feel when I read these chapters. I feel for the mc
Okay I'll give you recommendations but I can't remember all the manhwa names so I'll give links for those that I know -
https://www.mangago.me/read-manga/10_years_where_i_loved_you_the_most/ (This one definately has that feeling where the MC and ML are already in a relationship, but the ML spends more time with someone else so the MC feels like second option. The ML is an asshole so they don't end up together (thankfully). Make you feel sad.)
https://www.mangago.me/read-manga/cosmic_boy/ (Feels like unrequired at the start, later becomes required. Not a love triangle. Makes you feel sad.)
https://www.mangago.me/read-manga/keep_holding_on/ (can't remember the plot, but I think this also has some sort of unrequited love)
https://www.mangago.me/read-manga/until_i_meet_my_husband/ (Feels unrequired for the two guys MC liked at first but, later becomes required when the ML arrives in mc's life. Make you feel sad and happy.)
https://www.mangago.me/read-manga/protect_your_purity/ (ML and MC like the same guy but, ML and MC starts to fall for each other and thinks that it's unrequired.)
https://www.mangago.me/read-manga/bad_contact/ (MC liked someone that doesn't like MC for many years. ML tells MC that he also likes the one that MC loves. MC is heartbroken; later MC and ML gets together)
https://www.mangago.me/read-manga/reunion/ (Not a love triangle. It's a really good manhwa so I recommended it. It does feel unrequired at some point because the MC thinks they can't stay together even though they love each other so much. Makes you feel sad and happy.)
https://www.mangago.me/read-manga/green_apple_paradise/ (Can't remember the plot but I loved it. I think this has unrequired love too because I put that tag when I saved it.)
https://www.mangago.me/read-manga/incidentally_living_together/ (MC liked some other guy but that guy doesn't like MC, so It's unrequited in that sense. Then the ML comes in MC's life and MC and ML fall for each other. This one is also a really good manhwa. Makes you feel sad and happy.)
https://www.mangago.me/read-manga/sahan/ (Unrequited for ML. Makes you feel sad.)
https://www.mangago.me/read-manga/scratch_1/ (I think this one is also unrequited love. Makes you feel sad. Also this one is discontinued sadly.)
For straight manhwa-
https://www.mangago.me/read-manga/july_found_by_chance/ (MC and ML are both side characters that love each other, but the author keeps separating them so It's unrequired in the sense they love each other but still can't be together. Makes you feel sad.)
https://www.mangago.me/read-manga/the_girl_from_class/ (This one was quite good. It's about the feelings of a guy towards a girl. Makes you feel sad)
This is all I can remember at the moment. I did read other Japanese mangas that also have unrequired love like Hinakure chaser and kare to kare no ijiwaru na kyori but I don't think I should recommend them to you because the ML in both of these mangas can make you more mad than feeling moved or sad. They don't even make you feel happiness...
If you read GL then this one also has unrequired love. Makes you feel sad. Not a love triangle tho. https://www.mangago.me/read-manga/only_need_to_love_once/
I'm so happy to see that she's finally standing up for herself. I thought she would end up depressed when she got isolated by everyone, but instead, she went and got her revenge. GO SEI!! BEAT THAT BITCH UP UNTIL HER EYES ARE BLACK AND UNTIL SHE CAN'T EVER MAKE RUMORS ABOUT YOU OR SPEAK ILL OF YOU AGAIN!!!
Yohan ending up all alone and crying would be the best ending for this manhwa (sadly, that's not happening). All these damn comments piss me off so much. People are constantly talking shit about Kang Jun when his only fault is being very selfish and self-centred (which is bad, but he never acted upon his thoughts, unlike Yohan). Yohan always gets talked about regarding how he's horrible but also a victim of Jun because of the dinner scene. Jun apparently deserves to end up with Yohan and also deserves the bullying from Yohan because he's too selfish to care for Yohan and stand up for him in front of Yohan's family during dinner (which, according to them, means Jun put Yohan in a spot and made him feel embarrassed, so he deserves it).
I can't wait for chapter 17 of the novel to be released in the manhwa. It would be interesting to see what the people's reaction will be like after it is revealed how Yohan throws a tantrum and gets mad at Jun just because he wanted attention. When in reality, Yohan lies for the love of the game. He's the first one to tell his family in middle school that his biggest wish is to have a boyfriend for Christmas, his favorite dish is seafood, and he's not religious and yet pretends to be religious. He's so spoiled. His dad bought him a motorcycle and bro crashed it SEVERAL TIMES.
Bro never even regrets or apologizes for bullying and isolating Jun and gets forgiven later because he took the acid hit for him and ended up in the hospital. He's sooo prideful (yet people only see Jun as the only one being prideful). I would've thought his personality would've improved (even though he didn't apologize) after this, but no. Instead, he says shit like—"No matter how much you beg and cry, I won’t forgive you, fuck… I’ll keep pounding you until you’re about to die…” when they're having sex. Bro talks disrespectfully to Jun without apologizing after, or being a bit like "sorry I was horny and lost control"; he always has to objectify him. He's such a trash. Towards the end, we find out he always viewed Jun as a lost, naive lamb that he needed to save, but he also thinks that he has to break Jun so that he can save him, and that way, Jun will only depend on him which makes so much sense looking at the current chapters in the manhwa.

On the one hand, I like how realistic it is compared to other survival game manhwas (even the cult members holding them hostage aren't invulnerable and can die). On the other hand, I dislike how unsatisfying Moran's death was. Gunwoo deserves to die a worse death, along with Junmyung and the girl with glasses who poisoned Soorim's drink. The MC is too much of a coward, though I don't think he deserves to die (he does deserve some minor punishment, though). The gossip guy was wacky (like how he spread rumors about Soorim having no mother), so it's a good thing he died. I never disliked the MC's friend with glasses because he genuinely seemed to want to help people, but he lost my respect when he tried to untie Junmyung. I hate that so many spineless bystanders (who never had ill intentions towards Soorim) died so easily, and even the helpful dark-skinned guy who tried to save Isaac from bullying and gave the girl the coin died. The MC seemed like he always wanted to help Soorim, but he was always too late, and even when he made up his mind to include Soorim in his group, he hesitated and stopped. Ngl, he lost my respect too, but I still don't want him to die
