I just want to say that you can like Dohyeok without trying to spitball excuses as to why he didn’t “technically” SA Suhua. And you can like Siwoo without trying to pretend that he’s 100% the victim and that his dalliances with Dohyeok aren’t in any way motivated by his own hedonism. First of all, I like the dudes and feel pretty guilt free about it. Maybe people have these hangups about liking “awful characters” so they have to make up excuses to make them seem more sympathetic, but I feel like that’s not really the point of the side story here?
Both Dohyeok and Siwoo are complicated dudes who aren’t great people. For Dohyeok it’s obvious, seeing that he abused and sexually coerced Suha in every aspect of their relationship, preys on younger guys, and is currently threatening Siwoo and his employees. But Siwoo also forced himself on Dohyeok at the beginning for shits and giggles/a misplaced sense of retribution for Suha. The story clearly paints the two of them as vindictive rapists who are drawn together and can’t stop hurting each other despite the attraction. Birds of a feather? I guess? Still, the idea that “wow Dohyeok and Siwoo are bad people” and “Dohyeok and Siwoo have gone through bad things, hopefully they can heal from it” are thoughts that can coexist without trying to assign the role of a “victim” to one or the other.
I’ve commented on this before and I never really had an issue with the translator’s opinions on the story as she’d made them very clear during her stint translating the actual Sadistic Beauty story, but like people have said, switching to writing them in the margins of the comic for the side story is incredibly intrusive to the reader and sets a bad precedent considering she is taking the comic and distributing it for free. I see a lot of cope like “well, why are you complaining when you’re getting the translated version for free?” (I bought the chapters on bomtoon but I want to address this argument). It’s just weird and rude lol. I’m not gunning to sing Yeonhui Woo’s praises or anything, I think her writing in the main story fell off pretty bad towards the end and the “feminist” themes Sadistic Beauty touted go to shit when the story is teeming with rape and not to mention lesbophobia. I don’t know who gave her the idea that writings Gyerin, a lesbian, being coerced into having sex with a man would be “girlboss” or whatever. But I digress. The point is, I keep my criticisms in the comments.
And I certainly don’t @ the author on twitter and try to tell her why she deserves to have her work stolen. HastyProvocateur did that shit on twitter. It was rancid and gross and the reason she lowkey lightened up on the angry commentary towards the end was because Yeonhui Woo was planning on taking legal action. Not so tough once the author notices, I guess. I also think it’s insanely hypocritical to be touting your own “fix-it” fanfiction as a superior rewrite of the story you have a massive hate boner for. If you were really so disgusted with the story and Wookyung, why would you woobify him even more than the actual story?
I read it, by the way. It’s literally just diet Fifty Shades Freed but with even more cliches. I mean, at least be a good writer if you’re going to try to fight the author of the story you’re riding the coattails of. Her entire condemnation of the story and the author feels performative precisely for this reason. If she was really so disgusted by all the rape apologia in the story, then the last thing on her mind would be writing a story where Minho forgives Wookyung for being a creep and they have tender loving yaoi sex together. Again, I’m not saying this story should be immune to criticism, because I have tons of it. Hasty is at least right to object to the lack of content warnings used in the story. 100% it is an issue and has led a lot of people who aren’t comfortable with it to reading a story filled with extreme sexual violence without knowing so prior.
Came back for more actually. To the people who were saying Yeonhui Woo is “seeking professional help” or “regrets writing SB” or heaven forbid “she admitted to basing Minho off her ex and all the degenerate sexual crimes she wanted to commit against him”. I insist you show evidence. I follow that lady’s twitter with post notifs on so I can see if she’s writing anything even slightly better than Sadistic Beauty. She’s never posted diddly about her personal life or about “regretting” any of her stories in the two years I’ve followed her. I’m quite confident her only crime is being cringe and not knowing how to write BDSM. I get that social media makes it easy to spread false information without fear of repercussions, especially here since this IS an illegal yaoi site, but could we at least not make shit up?

Brooo yess, I checked out the fanfic and it looked like it was written by someone who had just learned what a simile was. Obviously the author of the original content isn’t perfect, but my god, the writing in the fanfic is nauseating to me as an editor.
After I was able to get over the fact that I would be reading a story where a guy named BRETT gets plowed by a guy named HAYDEN and I was able to make peace with these Riverdale ass character designs I’ve come to the conclusion that I really like this story. I was on the fence at first because before the big twist happened I was put off by the way Hayden straight up brutalized that man, only to find out that Brett was playing 4D chess and his true endgame is to get his anal crevice turned into an anal cave.
I think Brett is the kind of bottom society needs more of, really. I’ve read the raws and the sex they have is so violent and so at war with Brett’s biology that it causes nosebleeds and vomiting. And even while he’s contorted in pain you can see that he’s having the time of his life. I don’t know whether to be uncomfortable or not but good for you, white boy goated with the sauce. (You know what I mean by sauce). Even when it seems like he’s finally in over his head he always comes away laughing and it’s such a breath of fresh air in a genre where the uke is always getting dickmatized and needs to cling to his meat dildo seme for comfort.
Hayden on the other hand is fascinating because he doesn’t want to be ruled by his biology, but his ascetic lifestyle isn’t sustainable for him at all. Despite that, I feel like he’s one of those “pain=value” sorts of dudes I see all the time in college who think that by putting themselves through avoidable suffering it’ll make their lives more meaningful. And for Hayden, who cares so much about his art, I think a lot of that pain goes into his writing as a vehicle for creativity. So while on the outside it seems kind of like he’s just being yanked around by Yaoinel Messi, you can see he feels both intrigued by and resentful towards Brett for fully embracing life’s pleasures and still being a happy, relatively functional person in equal moxie.
Anyways, it’s good stuff. I’m just kind of mad because I think someone should really buy Brett some brown contacts.
