Oh my goodness, I started this manga I was in pre school (don't ask how that happened) now I'm nearing my 30s and working. How time flies and kyoko is forever 17 and the story is like one chapter a few mins in a day.
When I started reading Skip Beat, I was younger than Kyouko and thought Tsuruga Ren was SO OLD being 21. I'm now 33. I'm too committed atp to let it go, but please, set me free.
I watched the anime first when I was around Kyoko's age too. Back then all the shoujo I was watching had MLs similar in age to the FLs, so Ren being 20 felt too old for me. Now I feel like an auntie watching these kids fumbling through romance. (╥﹏╥)

Personally I can't help but still love it haha nostalgy might be clouding my judgment but I've been rereading it every year for ten years at this point and I can't get enough of it !! It's not perfect by any means but there's something very comforting about it imo
It just infuriates me that when two characters start a conversation, I know it's going to take like 3 chapters before that conversation ends aha. And with this manga, that means 3 months. To have a CONVERSATION. It's so glacially slow i've forgotten 95% of the plot points

It will still be a financial success because they only need to lessen the unnecessary side quests and maybe this manga could have ended gracefully and beautifully 10 years earlier.

atp i'd prefer you just write a brief text post on how you wanted this to go from here, some key scenes, and finish it with a final chapter. i think we're all tired atp; would honestly be the best for everyone.
The mangaka is 57 years old. I started reading skip beat in Middle school. I’m 30 now. So. It’s understandable to me that she isn’t able to bang out chapters. And she doesn’t want to do a disservice to the story by ending it before it is supposed to. Likely this is the last manga she draws.
I do think she is nearing the end of this story. After Ren deals with his past and they can be together the story will be over I am sure. Or we will see a time skip into the future where she is a thriving actress married to Ren (≧∀≦)
I love it to pieces, but I agree. I think we're near the end - dealing with Ren's past - but with the Mangaka's severely poor health (leading to the drop in quality), it would be better to end it sooner than later.

If only the author lessening her focus on the mc side quests this manga won't end up like this.. 24 years but no conclusion yet.
