Well, most of my friends are too perverted to have taken 50 Shades seriously (if that makes sense). I think you have to be pretty vanilla or inexperienced to be turned on by that. 50 Shades makes me violently angry. Its portrayal of the BDSM scene is so very, very WRONG! Anastasia spends the entire series trying to fix Mr. Grey. I have loads more to say, but I won't go into here. If you want to read a well written series on the BDSM scene, then read the Deviations series by Chris Owen and Jodi Payne. A few years ago when it first got really popular, I remember the fandom I was in on Tumblr at the time started hating it. I'd see posts about the goddess or weird sex lines, and the tampon scenes. Oh my god I felt the same way. Honestly it was fairly erotic, for romance type novels. In yaoi we just see the erotic images while we read (and go bananas for it). As far as the BDSM, it was sub par, likely due to the fact that yaoi in this particular sub-genre often depict muuuuuuch more explicit acts and scenarios. ╮(￣▽￣)╭ And then th......   1 reply
