From what you've described, according to my personal experience - I'd definitely stop reading.

Hmm most of the time, yes. For example manhua like Douluo Dalu/Soul Land series. I used to like these stories especially the school competition arc but when it got to ch 200+, I'm finding myself uninterested to the overall plot. So yea I decided to drop those. But then again sometimes I do check out the latest chapter to see if it started to become...... reply
