Personally I prefer reading about non heterosexual couples and because GL isnt as big, I just read BL stuff. I recently thought that the answer is that yaoi has more of a history and culture around it and yuri is sometimes too.... dramatic..? Like, the ones written by women I mean. Or maybe I just have higher standards with stories with women in them..

I adore yaoi, but I think I enjoy it so much because of my sexuality. Heterosexual love stories are fine, but I don't think I can connect to them in the same way that I can to yaoi. With BL there's the element of nonacceptance that I unconsciously crave in a story...... 2 reply
Nah you aren't alone, some of my friends and I like BL since it isn't for the male demographic it is for females so it's usually more appealing since they are written by women who know what women want so it is far more appealing. To me shojo ai is great but the yuri just isn't very good since they aren't really targeted to lesbians they are targete...... reply
