I do read other genres than Yaoi, but Yaoi was my favorite one out of all of the genres I have read. I don't know why Yaoi holds a special place in my heart it just does. reply
For me, BL is a bit more... intense? Like it dares to be a bit more intim (I have a feeling that means something else in english) than hetero stories without there being actual sex scenes. And I would say that hetero stories are just too cliche and worn-out, but actually at this rate BL isn't any different.

Bc its the first genre I've read. I slowly move on to other genre's yaoi-seinen-action-horror-shoujo-fantasy-isekai . So yaoi will have a special place in my heart bc it introduced me to the world of manga. reply
Yaoi just HITS DIFFERENT I like that it shows that not all guys are gonna be strong all the time like they have a vulnerable side they have feelings ya know? Some yaoi (not all) show some hardships of being gay. Others show hardships of relationships and that nothing is perfect and not everything will go the way you want. not all yaoi is "hentai"- hentai is just porn, which is not all yaoi
(obviously yaoi hentai does exist but that's beside the point)
personally, i enjoy yuri, yaoi, and shoujo.
I'm very picky with shoujo though because it's just extremely bland most of the time and a little too slow for me. on top of that, 9 out of 10 times the mc girl is dumb as ...... reply
