NEED ADVICE PLSS

So here's a thing, i go to a Christian School and whenever the topic homosexuality comes they say that it is not accepted and is not good in the eyes of God also only two genders exist, and as someone who support the LGBT community this upsets me, i really don't understand how loving someone with the same sex is a sin?? is it really not allowed to do that?? or is there something wrong with me??
