Nope. I'm asexual and not really interested in sex, yet I read a lot of yaoi. Actually the only smut I read is yaoi. Not really interested in heterosexual smut. So no, what you read or don't read does not necessarily indicate sexual orientation.   1 reply

I don't think that reading yaoi makes you gay. I love girl's love, but I'm not lesbian (I mean, wouldn't hurt to try but I prefer guys) It's just what you like, fuck what they tell you, if you are straight and want to read yaoi, then do it, if you're gay (or any lgbt+) and want to read yaoi, do it. Well yaoi is made by straight women for other straight women. So my answer is no. In fact the stories are only normal romances. You can mostly exchange the uke by a female lead and nothing would change (well sometimes even the drawing is very girlish).
