5 Question for fujoshis from a gay guy
Ok so I've seen a lot of comments here that either pique my interest, or just really annoy me as a gay man, and they are more often than not from straight women reading yaoi.
So, I was hoping people could answer some questions.
1) Why do a lot of fujoshis wish that they were gay men, it's really fucking hard to be a gay man. We don't just revolve around butt sex. Is it because of the difficulties of being a woman and dealing with straight men?
2) Why are fem characters in yaoi so looked down on and called stereotypes? I'm a fem gay man, I wear makeup,I have long hair etc, but I'm still a man. I am not a woman nor do I wish to be one.
3) Why are so many fujoshis obsessed with the uke - seme dynamic? Like fem and skinny automatically means uke and vice versa, and god forbid there be switches. Gay relationships are not like that IRL, and it irks me when people say it's gross.
4) Why do you personally read yaoi? Like I read it, but mostly AI, because there's so little gay media? To me it just feels a bit odd, and some obsess over it to the point that it's like when straight guys obsess over lesbian porn.
5) This isn't a question, so much as just asking people to please stop referring to IRL gay men and relationships as yaoi. We aren't porn for you.
Sorry if some of these probably sounded a bit aggressive, and tbh they are, because I'm getting frustrated with some repeated comments I see. Particularly about fem gay men.
I am straight woman and I sometimes ask myself the same things.
For me yaoi is a substitute of porn BUT it's just because I don't like how women are portrayed in porn and there is no real men presence in it too. So when I can look at two men, especially drawn , because in reality it'd kinda weird me out, I'm satisfied. It's quite strange but I gene...... 1 reply
Hi there :) although I don’t consider myself a Fujoshi, I do read a lot of Yaoi.
1) some idiots just aren’t able to differentiate between fiction and reality. They probably jump straight to “I want to be a gay man” thinking that it’ll be like it is in the manga. You know? Just like when they were all 5, watching Cinderella going “I w...... reply
Hi, straight married 30 yo woman here :)
1. Dunno, not me ;)
2. I don't think that some chracters are looked down on because they have female characteristics. I think it happens mostly to characters that are overly feminized (is that a word?) to the point of copying annoyng shoujo heroines that only overdramatize everything and are helpless withou...... 1 reply
I’m not really a fujoshi but I’m a lesbian so I kinda get it but for me it’d with the Yuri genre not the yaoi obviously but yee lemme answer some questions (I read yaoi occasionally tho)
1. I honestly don’t know. To be honest, I find the fact that some people wish this pretty childish. A lot of fujoshis are gals, there are some guys and n...... 1 reply

I'll try to answer the best I can.
1/ As a bi woman. It's not like as if I disliked being a woman. I don't have any problem being a woman but sometimes, yeah, sometimes, being a woman sucks. It sucks when you have to deal with sexual heath. It sucks when contraception was made to be the sole responsibility of women (and before you ask, yeah, ther...... 1 reply
1.) most likely to live out the sexual fantasy they see in yaoi. I feel like in general its not to do with straight men or patriarchy or whatever, just their fetish.
2.) can't say maybe internalized misogyny or whatever its called?
3.) It's the most common trope in yaoi, I do see fujoshi call real life gay couples that(seme/uke). I think its the...... 1 reply
1. well at least for me, i don't think i'm trans, but as a bi girl i'm honestly tired of straight guys lmao so i guess you could say that's true
2. i've never heard of this one before? so i'm not sure how to respond but i don't think fem characters are looked down upon?
