How do u recover from it
ur a straight woman surrounded by misogynists growing up and have tried hard to escape it by choosing your friends carefully. In addition to the good friends uv collected over the years, u become friends with a wise and insightful guy from highschool that shares the same views as u especially in gender equality. He's smarter, more eloquent and well-read than u are and u just love the way his mind works. Among all the ppl and friends u know, u believe he's the best example of a man that understands the nuances of men and women. U end up marrying that guy and have a little kid with him. Now, u had a fight recently and are now talking it out, when suddenly, mid-conversation, it dawns on u that u ended up marrying a misogynist anyway.
These replies are ….unsettling to say the least, blaming you for just now coming to the realization and saying they could never be in the same predicament you are in right now. I’m truly so sorry it’s genuinely not your fault maybe there were signs in the past but who knows. I would be so scared if I was in your situation I’m assuming you...... 1 reply
oh my goodness!! other replies here are passive aggressive towards you OP, you are not alone on misjudging a person's character at all.. I am sure you have tried to assess your man before being married to him. It is not easy to vouch someone if they are actively faking their whole character

If you would only realize during a mid conversation fight then your not the sharpest tool in the shed. I'm tired of people pretending they have high standards for someone but in reality reading someone isn't that hard. You do not need a psychology degree, and it should not have taken you a couple years into the marriage to realize you married a mis...... 1 reply

And just thinking about how much longer I'll have to endure and bide my time until i can safely escape this situation makes me just wanna kms so i can just be d...... 2 reply
We're missing the context of how bad it is, but regardless, now you have to think abt how to work w this from here on, both of you need to take some space from each other just for yall to calm down, then think abt potential discussion and communication (i was gonna doompost n tell you to b ready to book it in case things go south it but like many p...... reply
Anybody saying they wouldn't end up in your situations is, quite frankly, a fool. People like this often don't show their true colours until you are "trapped" with them, so please don't feel stupid for not realising it earlier.
Is the situation dangerous? Are you in a position where you feel you have no support system?
Was the argument one that mad...... reply
Since this is a patriarchal society, we more or less sometimes unconsciously act misogynistic- men overwhelmingly more as they don't face oppression but women aren't exempt from it. Even I had to unlearn a lot of things and teach myself how everything actually is. If he is really the person you knew to hold your views, it's possible for you guys to...... 1 reply
