About toxic yoai (different opinions needed)
Okay so, I've been thinking. Y'all know about "You are my world", "Jinx", right? So lately I've been seeing people leave negative comments on "You are my world", stating that the sa was unnecessary (Which is true) and that they can't believe people would actually read something like that, stating that justifing reading things like that by saying "it's fictional" is the same excuse pedos use when looking at fiction lolis. Do y'all agree with this? I've read lots of stuff on here, mostly because I was bored and honestly just like reading random stuff and ranting to my bedroom wall about it, personally, dark themed things don't really bother me, I just like chatting about the actual plot you know? I like any story, as long as it actually has a good plot that'll leave me thinking. People will read what people will read, but comparing pedos to toxic yoai is a stretch, no? Everyone knows that you can simply not read what makes you uncomfortable, so why not just exit off of it? Now I've read shit on here that's wild, but I just clicked off of it and continued on with my day. I'm just ranting what's been on my mind these few hours after seeing comments like that, I do agree that adding SA to plots is unnecessary though. If you stumble upon this, I'd love to hear different opinions on this topic and what you think about it, one thing I love hearing is different opinions on this app (As long as it's not down right rude)
the problem is not about writing SA in stories, it's adding SA for "cheap shock factor" or a gimmick to sell/invoke strong feelings. ever heard "every publicity is good publicity"? that's what these SA manhwas mostly do. people say jinx is popular DESPITE having SA,no–jinx is popular BECAUSE it has SA. by adding SA/rape as a selling point, as som...... 1 reply
This whole "don't like don't read" doesn't apply for problematic things that constantly romanticize rape or abusive relationships. Alot of these "toxic" Yaoi are not marketed or advertised as "toxic" but rather as something to want and is seen as romantic or sexy when clearly that is NOT the case.
Example: Dark FallLook at how fans portray the se...... 3 reply
Shifty wording, they mean enjoying or encouraging harmful behaviors like SA or attraction to characters that look like children under the guise of fiction. reply
it's not gonna ruin my day or damage my mental state to read something with rape/SA in it, but I'm always going to question its inclusion in ostensibly "romantic" stories, even if it's about criminals and villains because the grand majority of the time, rape/SA is included in BL for cheap thrills, titillation and as a relationship catalyst or short...... reply
I like toxic yaoi if both are equally toxic to each other. Here's my opinion, I think showing toxicity and SA in stories is ok as long as it doesn't romanticize and drag it too long especially the sexual stuff cause while I somewhat agree that it's fiction, the more common it is the more people will think it's normal and das not good, not everyone ...... reply
I've never had an issue with people who read problematic themes when those themes actually matter to the story. I read a story that added gang rape as a backstory context (I genuinely HATE gang rape, I get severely upset and sick to my stomach) and it was not glossed over or trivialized. At the end of it, I was okay. And it made me realize while ga...... 1 reply
Everyone has boundaries when it comes to stories and the media they consume. I draw mines at stories that sexualizes children and minors (that’s why I dropped anime). As long as everyone’s a freaking adult, it’s fair games on what authors want to write. Sometimes porn doesn’t have to be deeper then.. it’s pron. On the other hand if it’s...... 1 reply
Your post reminds me of when I go to read a straight romance comic for women, usually smut, I see comments of people complaining about how yaoi is better and that all straight romance or smut sucks. They also can't handle when you say to them how the majority of yaoi is r and non-con. They don't like looking in the mirror at their own hypocrisy. (i...... reply
