How to educate myself in politics

Every time someone talks about politics and economics I feel so lost and bad cuz I barely know anything about modern politics. My peers seem to know a lot, especially boys. I don't want to be left behind and I want to keep up with them. Whenever history teacher talks about politics and economics, boys join him and they start discussing so intensly and I feel like an alien. I'm still very young but I want to improve myself and be better. Where can I start learning from? How to study it so that I don't get too bored? What sources should I use?
