One of my "absolute super dupeeer totally favorite" writing tricks is when an author introduces a child and an adult, spends half the story building their relationship and then decides "don't worry guys!! we'll just throw in a time skip". Sure the time skip might fit the chronology but c'mon let's not pretend its main purpose isn't to age the young...... 4 reply
The story after the time skip is literally one step forward 10 steps back the development is so slow it's annoying especially when the conflict is such a nothing burger like i get you don't want to be used but what's the big deal he used you as inspo for a fictional character something EVERY AUTHOR DOES and got close to you after you piqued his int...... 2 reply

Taming the Tiger. It was so good until the author pulled a “it was all a dream” (seriously.) and the mc was actually picked off the streets by the ml when he was 17. the ending is he turns 18 and to celebrate he takes his virginity/they have sex. just unneeded asf when they were already adults before like wtf 1 reply
kings maker triple crown!!! Not exactly a forced time skip, but the story got continued with them as adults and it just isnt the same..its not as good as the og and i felt like the protags lost chemistry when they started doing eachother. (though its been a long time since i last read it so...). Also the plot seemed weaker, less interesting. 2 reply
