What's your least favorite "romantic" act in romances?
Bls/Gls/Hetero or whatever else, i hateeee when one of the characters has family issues and specifically tells their lover they don't want to be in contact with their family but the lover ignores it to save their relationship and the author portrays it as such a big act of love and for their lover well-being. I HATE WHEN BOUNDARIES ARE DISCARDED.
When the ml sleeps with another woman but he’s thinking of the fl the entire time so he’s actually a yearner and a complex character so it’s romantic and u can’t diss the ml because he’s just a baby (targeted)
Or when the ml is constantly leading on the fl or disregarding her feelings but being a pos to your partner is actually super yea...... 2 reply
Oh and in historical romance specifically I HATE when the ml overworks the staff to make something special for the mc like I get these are stories youre supposed to read with your brain turned off buti don't find the exploitation of workers that get paid cents romantic sorry reply
I hate when boss x subordinate especially in an office setting romance where the boss uses their power to unjustly inconvenience other employees just to make things easier for their love interest.. It just feels so immature and lousy! Can't you trust them to stand on their own grown feet? reply
When the mc or lead romance option is such a fucking dickhead but they’re paired with a joyful whimsical woke character and their dynamic is diluted down the sunshine x grumpy when it’s legit victim x their parasitic leech that sucks all the happiness outa their life.
Lowkey don’t beat my ass but this is fucking 90% of yoais and yuris and al...... reply
Oh my god, this has been a long-held pet peeve of mine stemming from reading way too many romance novels where this happens, but when the couple finally get together after some misunderstandings or whatever and say something like "we're idiots, aren't we?" I just want them to explode, or when their friends are incredibly knowing and smug after they...... reply
extremely bold expressions of affection.
i dont know how to explain what kind of romantic gesture i like, but you know the nonsudden kind of random ones that arise because you are just around them a lot and think of them? those kinds.
i dont like the really euhm jumpy ones. reply
Jealousy and possessiveness.
No it’s not cute.
Also, when the love interest is the other person’s who reason for being.
Humans are meant to interact with others. Even antisocial people have at least one friend. reply
When one lover is tired in bed and then the top, it’s always the fucking top, is like “oh, you know how to turn me on” and then the next panel is like “and they fucked all night” or smth, like HELLO?!! Sex doesn’t have to last for several hours for it to be good. Also it shows that even in the most intimate of moments one of the mcs com...... reply
